[Virtual] Need an opinion on VMware accessLooking to set up a VPS using VMware ESXi with about five users of a project accessing the hardware. If the project is a success, we will be branching out to a larger group of people outside.
What we've done so far: There are two of us with root-level access to the hardware. We would like the project users to be able to access the hardware using vSphere client with a u/p unique to the individual user with permissions set on the virtual hardware so only the user can access the virtual machine assigned to their account without making system-wide changes or virtualized hardware changes outside of our parameters.
We tested this in a second lab amongst a group of admins and it is working well. Admin A can log in and see all the hardware. Admin B, Admin C, and Admin D can log in with an account and only see their VMs and make changes only to their VMs.
What are the thoughts and opinions? We're trying to avoid something like using cPanel but still give the end-user admin access to their own VM without screwing up other VMs on the system and not requiring an admin to manage multiple VMs. |

I'm confused...why not just use horizon view? This will allow them to control their machine and also provides a great SSL style VPN (connection gateway) for securely accessing the machines. |

Purchasing Horizon View is not an option at this point in time. |
