St. Louis 30Mb to 100Mb

Looks like upgrades going into effect!

"Effective Tuesday, June 10, 2014, existing eligible Residential Charter Internet® customers in the St. Louis, Missouri, metro area will receive an automatic increase to their Internet speed for no additional cost. The St. Louis market is the only Charter area to provide New Pricing and Packaging (NPP) customers 100 Mbps of download speed and upload speeds of 4 Mbps.
Speed Increase Details Customers who subscribe to NPP Charter Internet® Plus will receive download speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 4Mbps at no additional cost."

Reboot your modem between now and tomorrow, i'm hitting 90Mb this evening, was 30 earlier today.

Wish the upload went up some as well. But happy anyways for speedboost especially since most was expecting 6omeg.

No upgrade yet in my oakville/soco area. What plan do I have to be on to get this free upgrade from 30 to 100 (i am still on a plan with my own modem).

In north county, I'm faster than yesterday (63 down) but not at 100 yet. Yes, I did reboot my modem, a Charter supplied Arris TM822.

Was told over the weekend at a local Charter Store this apparently applies to the Metro-East area as well.

I went in to get a company owned modem, since some people had claimed that customer owned modems wouldn't be getting the upgrade, and was told I could stick with my own modem, and the upgrade wasn't going to be 60Mbps, but 100. Wasn't sure how much of it I believed until now.

Why does St. Louis get special treatment? Not even where its HQ is anymore. Rather silly.

So now in St Louis they don't have any tiers? All customers are on 100mbps?

Even when we were the official HQ I would say STL was at the top of the list for new stuff, but not always first. Plus HQ may have moved on, but Charter still employs a lot of people in the area and that includes those that work on the corporate level.

Maybe this is their way of getting rid of the Ultra tier. Makes no sense to have it now. Unless speeds and upload doubled. 200mb/10mb

Maybe get rid of ultra and replace with their old "budget" tier, maybe 15 Mbit since they refuse to have more then 2 tiers. And I think that has been one of the major complaints is no lower tier and with most going to 60mbit closes the gap for most people needing the 100mbit, other other complaint would be upload but I think that should be done... Eventually

STL/Afton area "ultra" subscriber. Reboot modem and saw no increases at all. This is some expensive 1mbit upload.

So in St. Louis are they not going to have any speed tiers and just have 100 MBPS only? If so just curious as to the cost of that?

I think Charter needs to have more lower speed tiers for a low price. Maybe something like 15 MBPS for $25? or 30 MBPS for $30?

Rebooted modem. Download speed went from 33 to 43. Upload speed went from 4.3 to 3.1. Nice! Gave up 1 Mb of upload. Any else around Godfrey or Alton area could comment about their internet service.

Believe it or not, the bandwidth is the cheapest part of the service. $30/mo doesn't cover the cost to maintain the copper plant and labor which is why they don't compete with DSL any longer. Quite frankly that's why DSL is so high so even though Charter isn't exactly cheap, it is certainly a better value than the alternative, and cheaper than many competitors in other markets.

Be glad you can get 60Mbps for $55 (or now 100 if in the STL market).

I'm just outside of Alton, yeah (Not quite in Godfrey). I'm currently using my own (not charter owned) Motorola 6120. Likely I'm going to have them replace it with one of their own so I can get more channel bonding in the future.

*EDIT: Corrected model number of modem. Not 6121, actually a 6120.

Yep got mine yesterday afternoon in the Maryville, IL area. My modem went down for a few minutes. When it came back up I ran a speed test and saw ~88mb/s. Best outage ever!

Wonder why mine tops out at 71? The past 4 weeks since the earlier boost, I was getting in the 60's on a regular basis. I'm not complaining cause I probably wasn't making full use of that speed. Just curious.
