IOS8 and Yosemtie

Updated my IP5s and Imac to 0sx8 and 10.10 respectively.

Impressed with the stability of both and speed - normally betas are bloated with debug.

Trying to figure out how to configure some of the convergence features - like answering incoming calls to iphone on my mac or App handoff's

Anyone figure out how to get that to work??

My iPad and iPhone running the beta does calls and text relaying just fine. Didn't work with my 10.10 though.

Has Apple done anything about File Sharing protocols? Mounting remote SSH shares in Finder? The other deficit needing fixing is the read-only FTP mount facility in Finder.

MVM,

I doubt they ever will - there are plenty of third party apps that fill that niche quite well. Transmit will even mount ftp/sftp as a disk on your desktop if you really want that functionality.

I use Cyberduck to put and get files from a couple of remote NIX boxes (I will check out Transmit). It just seems odd that I have to use a third party app when OSX Finder could do the job if it only supported sftp and/or properly implement ftp.

Oops, two other things perhaps.

On both devices, make sure your WiFi is turned on, and under Settings > FaceTime, make sure iPhone Cellular Calls is turned on.

Ok - now on beta 2 (both OSX and IOS)

Still unable to get any of the convergence features working between OSX and IOS - other than imessage

I am assuiming one has to pair (bluetooth) the idevices with the MAC - when I try to pair them I get a message "no network access"

any ideas??

Does you Mac have Bluetooth 4.0? Apparently the Handoff feature requires it.

Looks like it's a no-go. But I'd wager that can be fixed with some plist hacking on the Continuity/Handoff frameworks.

I went a different route and ordered a 2012 MBP Airport/BT card to put in my 2011 MBP. It has slightly better WiFi and BT chips, but the card is the same form factor. $18... Figured it'd be best to snatch one quickly rather than wait for others to get the same idea and have the prices shoot up. We'll see if it works

I have recent hardware that all supports BT LE and continuity doesn't work either. Previously it would just not work at all, now it tells me that my iPhone is no longer available for continuity. The BT LE stack appears to be a big work in progress, which may be why only 1st party hardware is currently supported.
