[HVAC] Re: Cooling off 3430 sq.ft

the evaporator part is the one that goes on the wall? I never really looked at the makeup of a mini split but I get somewhat of the unit outside.

The condenser goes outside (on the side of the building or on the roof). The evaporator coil is on the inside. The ductless systems come in many configurations. Some can have more than one evaporator per condenser.

Yes, the evaporator is the inside part on wall, in ceiling, etc (they have several different designs). When a mini-split can have more than one indoor unit, they are called multi-splits. The larger ones (4 ton) can have as many as 8 indoor units or as few as 2. Some to look at for more information

Fujitsu Hybrid Flex Inverter System (48,000 btu cooling)
Mitsubishi MXZ Multi-zone System (48,000 btu)
Daikin Multi-Split System (48,000 btu)
LG Multi F System (54,000 btu)

The nice part about these large multi-splits is the length of refrigerant line that can be run. For example, the Fujitsu units can be separated by almost 150 feet; Mitsubishi, 230 feet.
