Re: [Networking] 1st Proof of Verizon / Netflix Direct Peering????

For the last few days Netflix has been streaming correctly for the first time since I can remember. I know this without measurements and metrics.

How do I know?

1. Clicking on a movie/show starts within a few seconds as opposed to 10-30+ seconds.
2. I can now see the buffered show in the timeline indicator and skip ahead to pass the opener in seconds in stead of minute or two.
3. No pause in video for bathroom break randomly.
4. If HD the streaming gets out of buffering and into HD within seconds as oppose to minutes.

Florida is still hitting the Atlanta streaming server via NTT on the inbound path. No info on the return path (NFLX to me) but I doubt its direct connect because the inbound trace would be direct.

I don't really care-- been getting full HD with fast loading for the past few days. FINALLY!!!!

Maybe all those streams going over Direct Connect has reduced the congestion on the Cogent peering so it's no longer degrading the streams still taking that path.

The last time I had used Netflix in July I could not get any better than 480p video.
This week I've noticed Netflix video is playing in HD via the ROKU app and the Samsung TV app.

It has gotten better for most FIOS subscribers recently. Netflix recently signed a huge ranson peering deal with Verizon to fix the issue.

Link please ... I don't believe ether company publicly provided actual numbers. And for all of these connection added it hasn't shown up as even a blip on Netflix's 10K statements
