Bye Bye Aereo

Aereo's whole business plan was based on ignoring copyright and not paying licensing fees that every cable company pays. They thought that some technical kludge would let them beat the system. The Supreme Court saw thru their little charade and rightly slapped them down.

Bye Bye all leasing companies as now they are illegal.
Rent-a-center will now shut down and car dealers will no longer be able to lease cars as that infringes on the copyright of cars that are sold.

Incorrect. It's not licensing fees, it's retransmission fees. But I get your point. And the system was setup by the government 30 years ago, and doesn't reflect 2014 and the state of technology.

The supreme court only interprets the laws, they don't make them. This is a legislative issue at this point. In their interpretation Aereo was violating the ancient blue laws on the books.

Retrans is a technical BLUE LAW....

It's still illegal to play cards on the MBTA in Boston.
