How can I get a username that's been taken? And while all users can not keep their user name for what ever reason, all users keep the same user number.

Yes, that's my point. The current system where a username becomes available for use after 365 days is how I think it should remain.
I hope someone else is able to enjoy the removed
name after I take the big dirt nap.

Ok.
So, let me get this straight.
You want the current system where a username becomes available for use after 365 days, to remain the way it is.
But you do you or do you not like the idea of icon/avatars having that same policy?
If not object to icon/avatars available for use after 365 days but not the same policy for icon/avatars as user names, then what should it be? For example available for use after 2 years??
Thank you

to HFB1217 I will agree with your request, too.
But, if it never comes to be, should anyone attempt using lilhurricane
's username, let me know so my daughter (who was baby-sat by Lisa years ago) and I can drop a bag of poop on their house.

's avatar when he left us... out of respect to him. But I do agree with "retiring" usernames.
