Re: New Telus Gateway T2200H

said by 58391701:

does anyone have any confirmed details on the wifi specs for each?

2X2 AC1200?

or 2X2 N300?

A bit late with a reply but nobody else seems to have replied. I just got upgraded from 15 to 50 (bonded) today and got the T2200H. I can confirm that it's a 2x2 300N 2.4GHz single band wifi, which I immediately disabled and then flipped on Bridging on Port1 so I can run my Asus RT-N66U behind it. The T2200H also only has 128MB RAM, not 256. There's probably multiple hardware variants of the T2200H and Telus elected to buy the cheaper single band version with less RAM to save money.

And is the T1200H also N only and 2.4ghz only?

Are you getting a separate IP address for the asus router?

i did the same, but went bonded 100mbps. T2200H with a Tomato N66 behind it. Also using a netgear R8000 for providing AC wireless access to my main floor.

I much prefer the T2200H as a dumb bridge device; Just like the ALU cellpipe I had before it when I single 50mbps service.

It is sooooo much better being about to use your own router behind it to it's fullest.

Yes, the Asus gets 1 public IP and the Actiontec gets another different public IP. So anything connected to the Asus gets its public IP and anything on the Actiontec's port 2-4 and wifi gets the Actiontec's public IP.

I just got the T2200H today. I want to set it up with my Airport Extreme...and bypass the Telus router.

How did you do your setup?

I enabled Port1 Bridge on the T2200H...but could not get internet setup working.

Should the ethernet cable be going into my LAN or WAN on my Airport Extreme? I tried both with Port1 and no internet. I had to revert to Port2 T2200H and LAN on my AE to regain internet access.

I'm a bit of a n00b as you can see and just trying hard here to figure out how to bypass the telus router BS and get my AE working to its potential. ANY help is appreciated. Thank you!

You'll want to run an ethernet cable from Port 1 on the Telus Router, to the WAN port on your Airport Extreme.

Be sure to log into your airport and release/renew the WAN IP if possible, or power cycle the airport after plugging it in, to force it to grab an IP address from the Telus modem. (I have no experience with Apple routers, so I can't help in detail with that. My apologies!)

With the new T2200H allowing bridge mode, would I be able to run my own cloud server? Or are those ports blocked by Telus at the ISP level and not at the router level?

When you run your own personal server, you change to ports that are not blocked by Telus at their server level.
