World Cup Brazil

anyone following it from here, i just watched a clip from the dude who bites his opponents, suspended again....

who will win the cup this year?

He should of got the red card in the game , the suspension afterward is logical but action should be taken in the game also , with all the errors made by the referees this year , it's not surprising at all.

If it continues like this a Southern American should win it as it seem it's what they want.

Only reason he didnt get carded is because the ref must not have seen it, which is why it was the right move from FIFA to review

Best quote I saw was roughly.....

Suarez's game is 10% physical and 90% dental!

To me the big surprize has been the play of Ghana. Incredible energy and talent and work ethic but just not polished enough to finish and take advantage of opportunities. If I was an up and coming coach, I would want to work with these guys, amazing potential.

This is the third time this guy has bit someone in a match. WTF is wrong in his head?

I've seen report that they said the referee saw it but the issue is that the bite mark was there and the referee should have at least took a second to check Chiellini shoulder as Suarez is not to his first offence regarding biting.

If we look at the red card of Italy im sure a yellow would have been enough so that's why i think the ref should have at least look at Chiellini shoulder. These action are game changer so that's why im saying the ref should have been more careful in his decisions.

Anav , Ghana played well but it seem there was issues within the team and im sure if they would have played without these issues they would have finished second.

Been following since the start (Being born of Swiss parents means I at least have someone in the tourney to directly cheer for )

Of course facing Argentina on Tuesday likely means the Swiss are doomed, unless they manage to take Lionel Messi out in an alley somewhere and beat him with an Alpenhorn

RE: Suarez's "Pac Man" imitation (the video game character not the football player)

This is the *third* time he's bitten someone... What does it take to get a lengthy suspension? Drawing blood or flesh?

Let's not forget the hand ball he did in 2010.

That's not how refereeing works. You either saw or you didn't. I'm not saying he didn't deserve to be sent off (he totally did), but just because the player went to the ref to show his shoulder doesn't make it that the ref will judge in your favor, and rightly so.

As for the Italian red, totally deserved, clear intent in that play to injure. And it that case, it happened right in front of the ref, there's nothing to dispute there.

They should make a condition of his return, a mandatory face mask. On a more serious note he needs treatment. Its his third time offense and he's lucky the penalty was'nt more severe. He was also guilty of making racial comments towards a opposing player during a Liverpool game.

International soccer matches are ripe for referee fraud. In a sport where a single score is often the determining factor in a win, a prejudiced referee can easily affect who wins or not. The result is often rioting fans who feel their team was cheated by an intentionally biased call.

I don't know how they do apply the rule this year but in this case many time the referee goes to ask what happened to the linesman just like in 2006 with Zidane and Materazzi or in other games with similar actions.

Marchisio intent wasn't about injuring the player , i don't see where the red was needed , Cavani late tackle on Veratti was also booking material so were's the baseline then ?

I respect your opinion but seeing Marchisio style of play since he started his professional career and even in that game i don't think he deserved a straight red.

I think Switzerland and Argentina will be a close game , the game against France was not a good day for them and im sure against Argentina they will play much better.

Good point , i suppose in this case it would be better to have the local fan's happy .

Watched a ton of the WC so far.....some incredible games coming up this weekend!
I'm a football (soccer) fan anyways so this is what we wait for.

I think Suarez got off easy....3rd offense should have been 1 year on the sidelines!

Great tournament this year; really enjoying the surprise teams and hope they do well in the knockout rounds.

However I still want Germany to win it all

indeed..... at this time it looks like him sitting out so many games like before will not get rid of his habit, it's time for rehabilitation.

although, Spain still willing to buy him...

indeed they stayed strong together, but the injured Ronaldo the king of kings managed to break that.

i couldn't believe the Spaniards being ousted so early on....and then to top it off Christiano Ronaldo played injured and all, but his comrades were just not into it...what a letdown, both for Portugal and Ghana.

me says Brazil will take it all.

The days of Spain were counted since 2012 then at the confederation cup of last year they didn't show any improvement so it's not surprising to see Holland or Chile beat them. What's surprising is seeing them scoring 1 goal in the first 2 games.

ouch........Diego Maradona is not happy, and ridiculing the length of ban placed on Suarez

"Who did Suarez kill?," Maradona said. "This is football, this is contact... They may as well handcuff him and bring him to Guantanamo (bay prison) directly."

Chiellini also think's it's excessive.

Maradona just want attention , he's standing up for Uruguay as he would like to see the cup won by any South American teams beside Brazil.

Brazil did not look convincing today vs Chile, I dont pick them to win it all. I still think Germany and the Dutch have what it takes. At least Brazil won the penalty kick. They deserved it since Chile only played for penalty kicks in the overtimes the wankers.
I must say Alexis Sanchez has really impressed me overall in this World Cup. He is a very talented player when allowed a bit of freedom to play his game (compared to how he is played in Euro football).

I don't think neither they will able to go through Colombia then Germany or France and the final game.

As for Sanchez im pretty sure a transfer to Juventus with Vidal and Isla being already there would be a good thing for him.

I agree, if he was five years old and chomping on kids in kindergarten the school would sit the kid down with a behavioral specialist to find out what the heck was wrong with him. Giving him a fine and a timeout isn't working.

If I was FIFA president, I would state.
Suarez, your ban is over, you can come back to play tomorrow.

Tomorrow, afte you visit the dentist and get you teeth pulled (and no dentures to be worn for games).
I cant be the only one to see the obvious practical solution!!
