Is that a forward path attenuator on your modem?

yes it is i have no splits coming from the drop, just 1 8db forward path attenuator and 1 standard 3db attenuator. the 3db does what it should but the 8db FPA only takes off about 6db

my signal levels are right around

-0.5 --> +0.5 for downstream SNR is about 43

+43 --> + 44 for my upstream SNR is about 36

Unless you have access to the CMTS you can't know your US SNR

don't trust phone reps to tell you some have been found to make up numbers to get customers off their back.

Most modems now a days show both sides in their diagnostics. Many of which can be accessed by simply going to »192.168.100.1 in a web browser.

ya shaw has locked me out via that method but u are correct, believe me, ive tried my ass off to get in.....

but i also think darklogix is correct and that even if i could log in and get the power levels that way, there would not be upstream SNR. it can only be read on the cmts, and the modem does not know what the cmts see's

the levels are pulled through an exploit in shaw's system.
