Cannot lower voluem with remote

Just bought new Samsung 32" EH4003 TV. Went through the codes to program the remote and the volume will go up but not down.
Details:
Followed Uverse procedure to manually set the codes. tried many codes and settled for 1942. this code will turn the TV on/off. It will increase the volume control of the TV (when normal STB selection is highlighted). It will not decrease the volume of the TV.
Interesting side note: when the TV button is selected, using the right/left arrows around the OK button, will control the volume. Right goes up, left goes down.
Also, this is not a TV issue as the original TV remote will control the volume appropriately.
Any ideas?

probably the code that you've chosen was working for a limited amount of features. Not all of the features that you would expect from the original remote.

In other words, find another code that will properly work for the U-Verse remote.

For Samsung hold down the tv & enter/zoom buttons together for a few seconds, top lights should flash a few times. After they stop flashing hit the fast forward button seven times. Then press enter/zoom again. The tv button will flash again and you're done. That is the wild card search for codes, and all Samsung's work with the 7th code.

This only works for the black remotes by the way.

Try entering codes manually from the programming guide. The technician who set us up matched our Samsung TV with the first code during the scan to switch the set on and off, but that code didn't control the volume in more than one tick per press of the button.

Irrelevant now anyway, since we don't use the TV set's speakers for our receiver, which is a Bose Wave Radio that probably isn't in the system and even if it was, probably wouldn't take over as the default handler for the volume buttons.

(And even then, we still need the Bose remote to switch it out of FM mode, which it seems to reset to if left powered off overnight.)

Not ALL Samsungs. I will say MOST though. Some of the newer Samsung "Smart TVs"/Internet enabled ones use the 8th code

If it is the old gray remote, get a newer black one.

If you want to enter the code manually, instead of the code search, 1007 is the 7th code. 1008 is the 8th code

Hadn't run into any using the 8th, seems a bit odd to change codes after using the other for such a long time, but I will take your word for it.

Either that, or I can't count to 7/8 :P

It seems pretty limited to the newer/newest Samsung LED Smart/Internet-Enabled TVs, that use the 8th code instead of the 7th
