Re: [AZ] Speed Increase July Rollout Date for Preferred/Premier

Oh it's true. Sound like they haven't prepared with new 3.1. Anyway your speed look very good. probably very close to 200 Mbps during at midnight. Dang.

Here still same.

Yeah speed's can be great, but like I mention it's been a lot of up and down lately. Just tested a bit ago and was between 60-70mbps down. I am sure, at some point cox will make some adjustment's to better balance the load, so we can get more steady speed's.

Once I went to Rochester Institute of Technology. I was used to connect my ASUS RT-N66R and RIT internet via Gigabit Ethernet. I took speedtest.net from RIT to Canada, it maxed out around 945 Mbps downloads and 250 Mbps upload so the internet came from 10 Gbps Time Warner Telecommunication. That my very first gigabit I have seen in my life. I hope Cox should fix their Server/Router to make like as RIT. Let say, Cox should have a bit overkill super server to keep whole network balance with very important point is, CPU, RAM, and Hard Drive usage. That is only way to handle hundred thousand to million people who owns Cox. Imagine that was difficult part.

Nothing like the summer speed increase for the fall price increase. Cox never provides anything for free. There will probably be a substantial price increase looming on the horizon. I really hope Google Fiber actually comes to Phoenix. We are held hostage by CenturyLink and Cox.

no price increase for the rest of the year.

you are using the speculation that every one is constantly downloading and uploading 24/7 when in reality only about 1% of users hit their cap. even myself with all my devices i have connected and I watch between 4-7 hd movies a week online and game i don't even hit 50% of my cap.

as for gaming does not hardly touch your cap unless you are constantly down loading games and most people that I know that do that don't have room on their hard drive and keep downloading the same game over and over

there's no speculation on my part.... gaming watching movies you will hit your cap watching HD movies 4-5 days a week!!! more for some.

dont call yourself a innovative leader I.e the USA when you have sub-par internet and caps. as you can see am back on Cox.net and not on the European which i was satisfied with them for the short time,

Enjoy!

Thank you to all that have taken time to respond to my original post. It was a very interesting discussion.
However, thanks most of all to Chatter for the most comprehensive and concise answer not only for me but for everyone else in all areas serviced by Cox.
Thanks, Chatter

Something's strange there. Only the DL speed should've increased. It should look like 65/7 Mb/s. Those settings look exactly like a comparison of a Preferred account to a Premier account at current, pre-upgrade speeds. I'm not saying it didn't happen, just that the new DL/UL speeds you got are not consistent with what Cox is rolling out. Nor is it consistent with SpeedTest screenshots people in areas that already received the upgrade have posted. Just sayin'....
No upgrade up in Phoenix yet, btw.

The Patient

haven't' seen any increase yet here in PHX. (located over on the West Side) I was hoping to wake up to faster speeds! Modem doesn't appear to have rebooted - maybe I'll do that later on this afternoon/evening to see if anything happens... :\

Cox anti-competitive practices.

I can Smell a 13% increase in rates...

Cox Communications customers who use high-speed Internet services can expect to download movies or games faster. That's because the company is doubling the Internet speeds on two of its service plans starting Monday in Arizona.

More than 70 percent of Cox's high-speed Internet customers have one of the two types of service plans, the company said in a statement. The new speeds will take effect this week and be completed by July 31.
