Applied fixes to 2 systems.

Desktop PC Windows 7 32 bit:

Windows 7

Laptop PC Windows 8.1 64 bit:

Windows 8.1

Both systems reboot needed. After reboots everything looks good so far.

10 Important updates for 8.1 64 bit all installed with no problem, so far .

Anywhere I can get info as to whether any of the "recommended" (but not Important) updates are really necessary or useful? The link to "more info" on the update page opens the Metro App of IE, but gives a Page Not Found error.

I found all day the support links for the Event Viewer logs were doing the same thing.
Might have a hardware breakdown or a data move to new servers at the big 'M'.
At a guess of course.

This update seems to have screwed up the sound on my Win8 laptop. The sound driver gets locked up and I have to cycle power to get it to come back. Anyone know which of the approx. 20 updates might be responsible?

I found that on my Win 8.1 64-bit system that I had to install this month's updates one by one. I tried twice to install them all at once and both times the update failed.
