Did you seriously join DSLReports just to moan and whine about people who know that the broadband in America is terrible? And, nobody is complaining about internet not being free, we're complaining about internet being horribly overpriced and the ISPs being greedy and screwing over their customers by nickel & diming them to death.

Ferrarri is selling it at the market price, set by people, same as most if not all businesses, there is nothing " unfair" about it, become a millionaire and u can buy most of the things u want, this is america

The Telco's promised to build us Ferraris at a Chevy price in exchange for favorable regulations and tax breaks that the American public (you are included in that) paid for. Now they have our money and continue to charge modern Cadillac prices, every year, for the same crappy, '98 Malibu. Yet, the rest of the 1st/2nd/3rd world countries continue to get better broadband speeds at lower prices than the USA. This is America alright, "Were 31!!" in worldwide broadband speed. Feeling proud yet?

If the prices are the same or lower and the service just as good or better. I deem it entirely fair IMHO. No?

They are right. at&t and Verizon believe the FCC will give them everything, so you could say Obama.

When the last-mile broadband market is as "free" as the car market for every person in this Country, then I will agree with you. Not before.

Not true for all of those who support the President but that has nothing to do with this. The ones that want things for free is a majority on here that think Internet should be free, a utility, regulated to cost countless in taxes and should be 5gig/5gig for $20 per month.

Anyone is free to compete. That's called Free Enterprise and Free Markets

And you're comparing those same countries where the Gov't OWNS the telephone and all media companies and people are packed into apartment/condos like ants.

The FCC was giving things away well before President Obama. The fact is the FCC doesn't regulate the Internet and TWC and Comcast could create an ISP such as @Home all over again, bring it to both companies and the FCC couldn't do anything about it.

The US invented the Internet. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE that we are slower than countries like Macau, Andorra, Estonia, or for God's sake the REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA! Its an even more piss poor excuse to say that these countries are faster than the USA because "socialism". So the best that the inventors of the Internet came up with, the product of American companies competing in a "highly competitive, free-market society," is only good for 31st place?

Correct, and correct. So called Obama phones for example are actually Bush Phones.... but I digress. I have no problem at this late stage in the game for the minimum definition of broadband to be raised. It's not like it really means anything, other then perhaps shaming the ISP's who don't or won't upgrade.

If it wasn't for the pressure Google applied, we'd me MUCH further down.....

Even so, our price paid/service delivered ratio places us at among the costliest in the world.

Who is going to define broadband? An agency that has no power to do so?
