[Modem/Router] Actiontec GT784WNV

I have been forced to use Verizon DSL here in California, and I want my Airport Extreme to be my router.

I have tried resetting my router to default settings, getting it all functioning again.. then turning off wifi and then enabling RFC 1483 Transparent Bridging.

Problem is, if I hookup my router it never pulls a public IP address. If I hookup a computer to the modem in effort to have it pull a public IP address from the modem, it as well does not.

Am I missing something?

Is your gateway originally set to use PPPoE or DHCP? If DHCP, leave your modem bridged, and power off the modem overnight. When you wake up in the morning, the AirPort should receive an IP. If PPPoE, make sure you change the AirPort accordingly.

I will do that and give it a try, and report in the morning!

Just to keep a followup for those searching, letting it sit overnight was the trick.

I was able to obtain a new IP and all works great.
