[Game] 2014 GPU Crushers

I'd like to open the floor to some suggestions for games that are very graphically demanding at 1440p, I'm looking to finish up a review for my 290X, and I'd like real world benchmarks instead or Unigine/3DMark.

Which are you favorite games and settings to run them at in order to give hardware a workout?

Crysis 3.

All Turned up of course.
Here is a link to some benchmarks I did about a year ago that you can compare with. Gaming Benchmarks. I'm currently working on adding my R9 both single and crossfired to the list with some more games.

Battlefield 4 (You could use mantle.)

Watch_Dog (this game use Nvidia Game Works. So, you may not get optimization for a AMD card.).

Sniper Elite 3 (I don't think it has mantle support now... But it will, i guess by future patch update.) »steamcommunity.com/app/238090/di···8364756/

BioShock Infinite.

Maybe:
Warface
»store.steampowered.com/app/291480/
SPINTIRES
»store.steampowered.com/app/263280/
GRID Autosport
»store.steampowered.com/app/255220/

SpinTires is no test of graphics. It barely heats up my GTX 780.

BF4. At the very highest settings. Mantle, if you wish.

BF4: I get 50-60 FPS @ 1440p maxed w/DX11, 70-90 FPS w/Mantle.

Star Citizen is brutal.

Crysis 3 looks gorgeous.

Tomb Raider isn't terribly demanding, but looks gorgeous, especially with TressFX.

Metro LL looks pretty good, great enviromment, a tad buggy though. Metro 2033 is a worthy contender.

Witcher 2 is starting to show its age with character models, but the environments are breathtaking with super sampling turned on.

Of course if you can get it to run, modded Skyrim looks great too.

These three here are actually great games to benchmark with. Metro 2033 can be a monster with everything ticked on and Last Light is no different. And they're actually good games (in my opinion, don't let Mike hear) to boot.

And the Witcher 2. Oh man, that damn good. Beautiful, fun, smart, and it can shit on your computer. Good times had by all. Unless you have like an 8800 GT.

Good you mention Skyrim, I haven't tried it with this card, yet. I'm assuming it'll be more of the same because it runs fine on my 7970, on my HTPC, but seeing as it was first installed with an Nvidia card on this computer it might start giving me all sorts of grief.

Funny you mention a 580, when I first upgraded from my 9800, I bought a 560ti, and I was wondering why it wasn't cutting it with either Skyrim or TW2

I used to make my 7200 GS cry when Mass Effect 1 came out... Especially on the mission where you're supposed to reach the portal to get to the Citadel.... I'd get like 5-10 FPS in that little stretch, yet somehow I managed to dodge everything and get through.

The good old days of being a poor college student.

For the games, I'd say you should probably go with Metro LL, Crysis 3, Star Citizen or Skyrim with mods.

Compared to the games above, Tomb Raider is amazingly optimized and doesn't really require that many resources. I also don't see BF4 being that demanding with the video cards. Mantle does a surprisingly good job at improving performance with ease.

I have a TW2 game going right now, I should turn on Ubersampling, and see what I get.

That's awesome. I'm sure there were times where my 9800 wanted out pretty badly as well. I just didn't realize I was supposed to eventually upgrade it after a while.

What's even better is that it's still humming away in someone else's computer right now.

Hey man, my two 8800's still have a home in one of my two Media PCs, the GTX 285 that caught on fire and was RMA'ed to a GTX 470 is in another Media PC. I mean, c'mon, an 8800 GT was technically a better GPU than what was in the Xbox 360. I don't remember correctly but I think that thing was around a 7900 GTX?

And the 9800 was a damn good card.

Witcher 2 is still hard to run at max settings and 1440p, sure sweetfx can look as good or better with much better performance but thats not vanilla but still one of the best looking games on the market. Crysis 3, bf4, last light all are hard to run too. Skyrim with all the mods too.

It's damn near indestructible, that's one thing I love about it. That card did it's absolute best to play whatever I sent its way. It was definitely a good card to get into gaming with.
