[rCable] Network Issue

We are currently experiencing a problem with our rcable. This issue was bleeding into other services but those should be mostly worked around. It appears that Rogers is routing all our traffic back to us, causing our links to them to be saturated. We're on hold with their NOC currently.

So that's why Netflix started getting bitchy. I stopped watching the episode when I noticed something was wrong. Just finished watching it a few minutes ago. It took a little while to start up, but once up I was able to finish the remaining 15 minutes without any problem. I was using my Boxee Box, which streams at a lower quality than the PS3 (Super HD).

Confirmed, we're able to isolate the issue to just our Rogers interconnections. At exactly 6pm we received a flood of traffic coming from them that is destined to them, so our network sends it back to them, rinse, repeat and saturated network. We're trying to isolate the particular traffic and filter it, but in the mean-time Rogers NOC is engaged and looking at it also.

Make sure they don't bill you for it!

I wouldn't put it past them.

I made the thread about the CBC stream choking at 5:27pm and it was choking a good 15-20mins before that. There is still an underlining issue with start's routing.

Sorry I don't time right now to look at your specific case with the CBC, but the issue started at 6pm with Rogers.

Yes, I haven't heard back from Rogers yet but the return traffic just disappeared within the past couple minutes - monitoring and will be getting update from their NOC shortly.

My family streamed the game from home on Start cable internet (rCable as well), they had no issues.

That is until around 6PM but after that's self-explained.

I saw no problems with the CBC stream until around 6PM. Your issue must've been unrelated.

Speed back now. Actually, more than back..
Thanks for the free sample, Rocca.. I just might have to upgrade to 150/10 for real some day.

Still down here in Kitchener. even worse than before. I can't even ping out now. 100% packet loss.

Getting normal speeds for now. Not sure if it will last. I will just stick to web browsing for the rest of the night. Not a big deal.

I wouldn't call this normal...but I don't mind.
(The throughput on the IPv6 route could use improvement, though!!)

Today I experimentally found that my old Asus RT-N16 with the latest Shibby Tomato can pass 104Mbps. I thought it was supposed to be worse - closer to 60Mbps.

We DID feel something of a major latency at quite a few websites (timing out and such), here in Cogeco-Land, starting not long after 6 PM, and it seemed to improve somewhat by around 7.

I tried another computer and it was sluggish loading some, but not all web pages.

DSLR was one of the sites affected.

Peak period seemed no worse than usual, which itself is generally pretty good around here.

We had the issue resolved for DSL/cCable around 7:20'ish and for rCable about 7:50'ish.

I'm still getting 100% packet loss here in Kitchener / Waterloo.

edit: nevermind. Looks like a pfsense issue.
