For what it's worth, rumor has it that Q is going to start "leasing" modems w/DSL... but I don't think that starts till the end of the month... and I'm not even sure it applies to the Cisco's... they're trying to get the testing done on the next generation... the Arescom 1000 series (1060 I think)... and start the "lease" promotion with them.

If you want to use a third party modem, I know that an Efficient Speedstream 5660 (»www.efficient.com/products/routsoho.html) will work. I'm using one with my Qwest DSL account.

I keep wondering from what you are saying that the modem has an IP.... is it a router/modem? modems usually do not have an IP that you can access.

I can ping the modem and the network card (PC). I did not want to pay $275 for the CISCO 678.

I'm using Windows XP. I believe I have everything set and configured right on the modem, (if anyine knows for sure how to set it up, I'd appreciate your insight).

In any case, I set up a "Network Bridge in XP" and a broadband connection in Internet Explorer. I cannot for the lif of me get this thing to connect! The lights flash, but it always fails to connect. I have verified my user ID and password with Qwest. They will not help beyond this since I do not have a CISCO 678... FYI... I am not using the Qwest/MSN deal....
