I wonder how long it will take for this issue to come to the CRTC despite construction being a municipal issue with provincial oversight.
I often wondered about an area that I am in that offer NRTC fibre to a subdivision. I wasn't sure what else came in, and don't know anybody to ask.... but service choices would be pretty limited. If you have a fallout with one company, or are somehow denied service where do you turn?
This sort of issue (intentionally setting up one company for infrastructure to a new build subdivision) might start to attract more attention in the future.
Sort of like the Quebec construction contracts industry in some ways. I am not too surprised that Orleans would fall into that way of doing business.
