New main switchWe are looking for a new core switch, and I am open to suggestions on what we should look at. Budget is around $3k, but could go as high as $5k if there's a good reason for it. Open to used / refurb equipment.
Requirements are:
-10 or more SFP 1Gb ports -2 or more SFP+ 10Gb ports (for future upgrade) - -48v DC power supply (bonus if there's redundant) -gui management (we aren't big on CLI) -BGP -OSPF -Per vlan QoS / rate limiting
This switch will be colocated in our ISP's meet-me facility in a city 600km away, so reliability is crucial. Everything will run through this switch.
We will take a 1 Gb fiber handoff from our upstream provider, and hand off a 1Gb connection back to our NOC, as well as provide a couple 1Gb links to local customers (same city the switch will be located in) that we also provide services to in our local service area. The idea is to have an upgrade path to 10Gb for when we max out our Gb connection (likely in the next two years).
Right now my front runner is a HP 5500-24G-SFP EI.
Thanks for any input! |
