CenturyLink having issues with i.imgur.com and imgur.comFor the last 48 hours, I cannot see anything on imgur which is like.. 90% of any internet I look at thanks to reddit.
I've tested on multiple computers, and at three different residences on CenturyLink, so I know the problem is not associated with one computer. Have also reset modems, flushed DNS on computers, etc.
CenturyLink just seems to be dead for imgur.com, and I can't even resolve one result from a tracert |

It's working here. In fact, some pretty funny stuff on imgur this morning. What if you try changing the DNS server on your computer to something other than CenturyLink's default one, like 4.2.2.1 (Level3) or 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 (Google) and then flushing DNS caches again, close/reopen your browser, and try once more. More information about Google DNS is here: » developers.google.com/sp ··· lic-dns/ and they almost certainly have instructions for changing the DNS server on your computer, at least for testing. |

Switching to 8.8.4.4 with alt of 8.8.8.8 makes imgur run fast, smooth, and better than it's ran in ages. Plus the fact it just simply works.
So what now? |

Two options, 1) Annoy some poor CSR @ CenturyLink to let them know the DNS servers are broken. 2) Live with the fact you're using a 3rd party DNS server, such as GoogleDNS or OpenDNS. (Personally, I like openDNS with the settings for particular websites to filter out - especially web spam, parked domains and malware/phishing websites.) |

Glad it's working!
I personally use the Level3 and Google DNS servers, mainly out of habit. It sounds like between this topic and the one about a few other web sites, some of CL's DNS servers are either down or just having some errors this morning. |

Yep, CenturyLink is having DNS problems. We've got several clients that are using CL DNS and they can't access our web services unless they update to Google DNS. |

I should add, it might be related to them upgrading their DNS servers. We got this email from the earlier this week:

No such e-mail on my side, but thanks nonetheless for the headsup. It explains some things. Cheers! |
