Re: New Hard DriveFor what its worth I ordered one WD 4TB Red HDD for $159 from Newegg. As I said before I wanted two or three but wasn't crazy about the prices so I opted to only get one. If I see a good deal I'll probably by more. |

OK,.....
Just received the new WD 4TB Red HDD from Newegg. Very fast delivery which is fairly typical of them for some items. The box was in good condition too. Unfortunately I have a small concern as to how small the box is. I'm almost afraid to open it because it doesn't look like its ideal packaging for a HDD new or even a refurbished unit being sent back to the manufacturer.
I can post pictures,... |

Bare drive packaging has gotten pretty small, particularly from NewEgg. Just big enough for the drive and a layer or two of bubble wrap. |

Indeed,....
I'll hope for the best,.... |

How's that WD Red working out for you? Once I sell my NAS I'm going to pick up 1 or 2 of the Reds for my new server. |

Bare metal drives come in boxes I wouldn't put a breadboard in. However, I have never had any issues with them working right out of the box. |
