Format of recorded programs and how to get them off disk?

I took 500 gig disk from two year old rogers box and put in inside a USB enclosure but my PC doesn't see the disk and win7 disk manager want's to initialize the volume as it doesn't see any partition on the disk.

Is there a way to get recorded programs off the disk? What format do the recordings have anyway? Is it some streaming format like .ts ?

No there is no way to get the recordings off the PVR like this. The content is in encrypted in a way that only the original PVR can decrypt it.

OK, thanks. Its just when I asked at Rogers outlet, it was intimated to me that there is a way but the rep declined to go into details. I assumed I would just come to Rogers forum and find the how to info here in a jiffy...

Thanks, I just found that and was reading up on the subject there.

I don't have a VCR (middle ages anyone?) and last time I had some standalone dvdr is also years past. I will explore the possibility of hooking rogers box to PC HDMI input. But that HDMI input on videocard is maybe not meant for recording from it on PC...

If you want to record via HDMI, your best bet is to purchase a Hauppauge WinTV HDPVR2 and one of these: »www.amazon.com/gp/produc ··· F8&psc=1 (to bypass HDCP). The HDPVR2 also supports recording via Component
