Symmetrical SpeedsSymmetrical speeds is coming. Will be free for existing customers and new. |
|
|
Really? Will it be a speed increase in both directions? |
|
|
Upload speeds will be brought to par with download.
15/15 25/25 35/35 50/50 75/75 150/150 300/300 500/500 |

If you check the main site you will already see symmetrical for new customers |

That is great although I wish the download speed got bumped as well. I guess this change is due to all those recent speed upgrades from other cable companies.
Wonder if there will be any fluff on the upload. |

Nice find. Interestingly, I currently live in a BPON neighborhood with 75/35 and the only option I'm seeing for new users in my neighborhood is 50/50 max. |

500/500, that new isn't it?
That makes the 15/5 ( 25/5 in actual ) -> 15/15 quite a jump, wonder how a fluff connection will net out for speed? |

Just attempted to change my speeds via the site (it's listed as a seperate internet option, but no change in price). Verizon Double Play Your new bundle will be activated on Sunday, 07/20/2014 I'm curious how this will look considering I'm already VERY close to symmetrical on my connection... Old Speedtest:
I'll post an update once it's active.

I just went into my account and had the option to go from 75/35 to 75/75. I did it. We will see. |

Welp, so far, my internet has gotten SLOWER from going from 50/25 to 50/50... Not sure if my order has been completed yet or not, but I'm almost 100% positive they just killed off "fluff" on these packages.

Upgrade Options |
I'm not seeing anything about 15/15 on the Verizon site. Mr Google only finds things from 2007-08 for 15/15. On the upgrade page I now have 3/1 15/5 50/50 ect I just noticed that the 75/75 is 10 dollars less a month that my current 15/5 , went a head an ordered it and screen captured all the screens as it's likely to be a goof up on Verizon part. |

Upgrade to 75/75 went through ( for 10 bucks a month less than 15/5 ) Fluff is still there, actually upload is faster than before, getting 84/92 on the new 75/75 tier |

wow you got a nice jump there if you went from 3/1 to 75/75 (and getting those speeds above). I'm thinking there's some crap with my ONT, because I can't even order 75/75 and was given the reason that my ONT is not compatible (BPON). But I can gladly pay Verizon the $100 or more to come out and upgrade me to 150Mbit and then I could attempt to downgrade :-/ |

I was at 15/5, I had selected 3/1 in the screen capture I posted as that was listed at the same price as my current 15/5 on the upgrade page.
So now, I went from previously:
Extreme / DVR / (75/35) @ 150 month
to
Select / QAM direct / (15 /5) @ 95 month
to now
Select / QAM direct / (75 / 75 ) @ 85 month
I wanted just locals, but it was lower cost keeping Select even without STB's to get channel as local only can't be bundled. |

Are you on a 2 yr contract?
Mine is showing $102.99 for Select HD/50Mbps :-(
Plus I get nailed with a $17/month HD-DVR STB...
Only discount I have is the $5 Verizon Connections discount. |

Great find!
I logged in - had this message:
"Congratulations, as a My Rewards+ member you have received a free speed upgrade"
And, it gives me an option to go from 150/65 to 150/150 for $10 less for the 1st month - then the same price thereafter...
So - thank you Verizon! Just placed my order! Onedollar - kudos to this find! |

Post before and after speedtests if you don't mind. Curious how other people are stacking up with this. |

Interesting that the upload is faster than the download.
No price mistake on the add/renew services page on my end.
I just noticed that you will lose your 2 year price guarantee if you upgrade to the symmetrical tiers. It's showing a $40 increase on months 13-24. Not worth it! Typical Verizon. |

said by SeattleMatt:"Congratulations, as a My Rewards+ member you have received a free speed upgrade" I've seen the statement also and thought it means they gave me an upgrade. But when checking my service, I'm still getting the same speeds. Do we have to manually reorder to get the free speed upgrade? For some reasons, there is a disconnect somewhere I think. |

upgrade current contract | uipgrade with new 2 year option |
said by Bytezboy:just noticed that you will lose your 2 year price guarantee if you upgrade to the symmetrical tiers. It's showing a $40 increase on months 13-24. Not worth it! I checked both, I did select retain current agreement as I have 6 months left. I didn't want to lock in another 2 years, and it was the same 80 bucks a month for another 24 months ( I have both screen captures ). Note, the -14.99 on the 2 year on from the 94.99 price listed ( didn't notice or select that at first ) |

I have 22 months left in my agreement. Here's what it shows:
Price Months 2 - 21 = $84.99/mo Price Month 22 = $94.99/mo Price Months 23 - 24 = $129.99/mo
Shouldn't it be $84.99/mo for the next 22 months? |

I suspect its due to your 22 months to go, I have just under 6 months left on my contract |

Re: Symmetrical SpeedsI signed in and still have the old non-symmetrical options, although there is a 500/100 option for +$215. *EDIT* Signed in on another PC using IE (not Chrome like the first time) and the options are there. Go figure! |
