Re: Symmetrical Speeds but only to local serversaid by nycdave:Yes, and the Verizon FiOS Optimizer will set the correct registry key to adjust the SWIN on Windows 8.1. Is there a tutorial what FIOS Optimizer changes in the registry? I'd like to do the optimizer in a W8.1 but also wanted to know what it changed/added in the registry so that I can reverse it if I wanted to. Thanks. Added: I've found this site » my.verizon.com/services/ ··· er/FIOS/ but it seems obsolute since the MTU it wanted to change is for PPPOE(1492). Is this still the case? Many DHCP connections will be tripped with this mtu settings if the optimizer still does it. |

Re: Symmetrical SpeedsFinally took the 75/75 upgrade. I went higher from my 50/25. Wired speeds are great with some fluff. 88 down 90 up. My wireless speeds dropped a lot though and I didn't change a thing so I'm trying to figure out why. I was consistently getting around 50 down and 40 up but now it's around 20 down and 28 up on several speed test servers. Maybe it's because it's the weekend and everyone's home in my neighborhood. I'll try again tomorrow. |

Looks like I'll just be waiting for the upgrade. As I have stated previously, I have the +$10 50/25 upgrade (from 35/35).
When I tried to manually select the symmetrical 50/50 tier, it showed a $25 upgrade. It seems as if it is not recognizing that I am technically on the 50/25 tier?
Ah well. More waiting. xD |

I got my 50/50 just by signing up for MyRewards+. A few minutes later, boom, I'm shoveling bytes upstream at 50Mbit. |

A few minutes later, boom, I'm shoveling bytes upstream at 50Mbit. meanwhile... days later others are still waiting... tick, tock... maybe the closer to a google fiber deployment you are (geographically), the more interested ISPs are at raising speeds quicker and not how much untapped fiber there may be locally. |

im still not upgraded either, wonder if its related to the age of the fios build ? |

nope.. for many 50 & 75mbit tier customers they do not have to upgrade any equipment, including moca router installs to make them symmetrical. some nodes might need upgrades ** if they are overloaded. |

I was just told by VZ support online that I need to sign up for Asymmetrical, just joing the rewards is not enough. |

Is this because you have no contract? I am in the same boat. I am not under contract and signing up for the My Rewards has done nothing. Signing up for the new speed will actually increase my bill per month, even without a contract again. |

I was 75/35 with no agreement and now I am 75/75 with no agreement. They did screw up my bill (+$10) but that has since been resolved. |

I take it back. Today hits a day over a year that I have had FiOS at this particular location. I just like $15/mo in discounts. Now it tells me I can upgrade to 75/75 from my 75/35 speeds for the same price/month.
I wish I could just get the other $15/month discounts back without a contract (that won't give me it anyway). |

» newscenter.verizon.com/c ··· upgrade/From the link, which was posted earlier in the thread: Customers do not need to do anything to receive the new upload speeds. However, if customers dont want to wait, they can visit the Verizon My Rewards+ page here to sign up for the program. Otherwise, upgrades will be phased in throughout coming months.
When completed, more than 95 percent of existing FiOS customers will enjoy the upgrade equalizing their Internet download and upload speeds." |

Signing up for the rewards program apparently doesn't necessarily speed up getting symmetrical speed upgrades. A chat rep told me they'll get to it when they get to it (something about they do not have an approximate wait time on how long it will be).
** As a side note.. most likely by the middle of next year, Cablevision will be well underway with their docsis 3.1 deployments around the time my contract is up. |

Mine hit today after I received an e-mail last night. Should be 50-50, but more like 49-67. Weird, though I'm not complaining. |

I had signed up for Rewards+ ten days ago and I finally got the email and the speed change on my 50/25 service. I just tested: down is 58.52 and up is 73.18. |

There's a very good chance that the website screwed up and the bill won't actually reflect the price he was shown on the website. If he fights the bill, and shows the screenshot(s) he has to Verizon, he might be able to get them to honor the deal though |

Well finally figured out why they held off on our 75/75 conversion. Had a friend of mine set me up with 75/75 Looks like we are not optimized for the newer fios speeds yet. apparently it does have to do with the age of the fios build area. Some gear can't handle above 75/35 well. Some of us got newer ONT or cabinet gear but apparently upstream gear is aged in some areas. |

I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat. |
