[DIRECTV] having problem with installerwe just go direct tv the installer put satellite up and installed receiver. we were not told we needed a hd system to get hd. they sent out new installer to install hd satellite and receiver. now keep in mind regular directv was working. he said the new hd satellite wouldn't work because of trees. didn't even check. |

The HD satellites are on different angles/position in the sky then the SD ones. It is possible that the SD signal comes through, but the HD ones are blocked. An installer that is experienced, probably only needs to look at a app on their smart phone to see what angle he is at on the southern sky, and be able to tell if the 99-119 degree angle is blocked by trees or not. (If I recall correctly, HD channels come from satellites on 99, 101, 103, 110 and 119 degree arcs) |

110 and 119 are the original and mostly SD birds.
Personally I don't see why the SAT companies don't just dump SD. It would open a lot of band width and they would only have to manufacture one line of receiver/DVRs All the HD receivers can output SD for they few left with only that |

That means they will only install Slim-Line Dish & HD Receivers you can still get only SD service if you wish - they will no longer supplySD receivers. |

110 was first. 101 was second (by about 4 months). 119 didn't show up until 2004. » en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Di ··· te_fleetNote the notes about the new shiny birds - DirecTV-14 and 15 |
