Install questionWe had Time Warner install a whole house dvr package (7 boxes total) and the Extreme Internet. We already have phone with them also.
Is it normal for the guy installing it to not test the lines himself? I saw no testing done. Although he did say that the lines all work fine, but did warn that someone might come the next day to test the lines, but if that guy finds something wrong with them they would charge us $50 to rewire each outlet. Is that normal also? I would not trust their opinion.
He said we might not want to answer the door. But our house is only 10 years old so the coaxial lines should be fine.
It does seem to be working ok so far. I did not care for his appearance, as he came in an old truck (not a typical TW van), and he was dirty looking with lots of tattoos. He spilled his drink on our carpet, and claimed the people he works for would call to send a cleaner out, but we will find out, my bet is they don't call.
He also claimed I could not use a bought cable modem in place of theirs, which I find hard to believe. |

Sums up the majority of our experiences with twc. You should email or contact them on twitter. Calling them will get you nowhere, TWC employees on the Direct support forums are really helpful try that or email/twitter. |

TWC's contractors are the worst. Keep in mind they get paid by the job so they are always in a rush and cut corners. THe $50 claim is bogus and TWC does send QC (Quality Control) techs to followup on contractor work but that's usually like 1 out of every 50 jobs. It's impossible to QC every job. If your install is QC'd and found to have issues the contractor gets "back-charged" meaning money is taken out of the payment of his job. Also TCs (trouble-calls) within the first 30 days of install also results in some monetary loss to the contractor. It is TWC's obligation to provide working signal at the time of the install. Call TWC IMMEDIATELY to report the damage to your carpet. If they don't have a claim on record soon after the tech left, they will treat it as a BS claim. |

We never did receive a call from "his company" today to clean our carpet spot either. As I figured. In fact he never even apologized for doing it, or at least not when I was around him.
Formertech's post makes sense. That would explain why the bogus claim. |

That is very interesting, thank you for the reply. Who do I contact at Time Warner for this? Or is it their twitter page as mentioned in another reply? |

Just an update to this. I ended up spending my own time to clean the carpet myself.
The idiot installer even had the nerve to claim he installed an "additional outlet", which he definitely did not do. A complete lie. They have a $100 charge on the bill just for that alone. Nothing but crooks.
No apologizes from anyone. |
