[Anveo] Is Message Waiting Indicator Working Properly Right Now on Anveo?

I don't get messages often, but I'm pretty sure that in the past, the VMWI on the phone turns on soon after a missed call and goes out soon after listening to the messages.

When I had new messages five days ago, the VMWI would stay on after clearing the voicemail. After much testing, I found that the VMWI does not update until the MWI is resubscribed by the device.

I determined this by watching the VMWI on the phone and the SIP Status Report screen. As soon as I noticed that the VMWI had changed, I checked the SIP Status Report and found that MWI had just been resubscribed. My devices are a Grandstream HT702 and Zoiper softphone on Windows 7.

Is this correct behaviour? Has it changed recently? Shouldn't Anveo be pushing a message to change the MWI as soon as voicemail status has changed?

Hi!

You stated that, in the past "... the VMWI ... turns on soon after a missed call and goes out soon after listening to the messages."

Well, I would say that the current situation where you are waiting for the device to re-subscribe was always the correct behavior.

It would simply be that the time during which you are listening to messages is counting down to the time to the mailbox to be re-subscribed.

5 days ago, how long would the VMWI light stay on for after clearing your inbox?
Did you clear the inbox by listening to all the messages or by deleting them without listening?

VMWI service relies on mailbox subscriptions and re-subscriptions for functionality, on both Anveo and (my provider) Callcentric.

In short, the device maintains two outbound connections, one for SIP phone service (incoming/outgoing calls) and one just for the mailbox VMWI service.

It would be good if those were combined into one registration but it simply isn't that way at the current time.

EDIT: I was incorrect on how VMWI worked. Thanks for pointing it out.

I don't think that is correct. The MWI light should extinguish shortly after the Inbox is cleared.

What do you have your "Register Expiration" and "SUBSCRIBE for MWI" set to on the grandstream?

FWIW, my BT Grandstream HT701 on VoIP.ms:
Register Expiration = 3 minutes
SUBSCRIBE for MWI = No

LED4 begins slow flashing and the dial tone begins stuttering immediately upon hanging up after leaving a voice message. Both indications clear immediately upon hanging up after retrieving the message. As it should be.

For Register Expiration, I have the Grandstream default 60 minutes. Yes I know that this is too long. I never see any missed calls in the log and I don't have any failed outgoing calls. When I initially set it up, SUBSCRIBE for MWI was turned on or else MWI would not work. In fact, my shipped firmware had a memory leak due to SUBSCRIBE for MWI. I left it off for months and during that time, had no notification of messages waiting.

When monitoring the situation for a few hours yesterday, I left a test message. It took tens of minutes to turn on. When it did, I checked SIP Status Report and saw that MWI Subscription had just occured. I cleared the mailbox and had to wait about 50 minutes until the next MWI Subscription before the indicator went out.

With Zoiper on the subaccount, it is set to 3600 seconds for Registration Expiry. While watching it yesterday, I saw that MWI Subscription occurred about every 10 minutes, even though there is no exact setting for it. The SIP Registration still took about an hour. This matches the previous night's testing where it took a couple minutes for the New Message notification box to appear, and after clearing it, a few minutes for the 0 New Message notification box to appear.

That was my experience with Obi and Anveo as well. Now it takes a long time for the MWI to go away after the messages are deleted.

WMI updates are pushed when
1. New SIP SUBSCRIBE is received
2. Voicemail message added/deleted

I know that during to the recent infrastructure upgrade there were some changes how MWI messages are handled. I will follow up internally to investigate it further.

After listening and deleting a message tonight, the MWI went away immediately. I also tested it by deleting a message through the website. Thanks.

I noticed this problem as well a couple of days ago. The MWI wouldn't turn off without disabling it in the Anveo dashboard and my Obi100.

I just tested it a minute ago and it seems back to normal.

I have the same exact problem. At the same time email with attached vocemail would arrive almost immediately after the message was left, just like it always has been.

I sent an email to Anveo support but received no response.

I didn't receive any voicemails recently so I can't tell if it is fixed.

Just got a voicemail this evening. Dialing *99 doesn't even bring voice prompt menu anymore.

It did now after trying about 4 times. Something is not right with voicemails. But at least CWI turned off immediately after I deleted the message.

Am I the only one for whom the problem has returned? The MWI isn't turning off once again.
