[Equip] Recommendations needed for modemsI'm currently using one of the old Terris telephony/modem boxes, and Comcast tried to send me a new box that does WiFi too, but I don't want that. I have a router that I like already, and I want to cancel my land line.
So, with all of that said, I am looking for recommendations for Comcast approved retail DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems that are NOT also telephony and WiFi routers. Basically just a modem. |

The Zoom 5341 doesn't appear on Comcast's list.
How do you get this activated? |

However, if you click on the " 45 new from $49.99" link that's below the list of features, it takes you to all the condition "new" listings (» www.amazon.com/gp/offer- ··· tion=new) where it shows that those ones that were offered for $49.99 are now: quote: Back-ordered. Well, it really looks like that now, since as of this morning, Amazon has now totally withdrawn that offer for the ones priced at $49.99 now. It could be that they are maxed-out on the back-ordered ones buyers have on reserve now. |

Be sure the modem is on the list AND DOCSIS 3.0 capable AND IPv6 capable.
The Arris TG822 does both Telephone, and wired internet (4 ports) no wireless.
The Comcast network has been constantly upgraded and 8x4 may not be enough to take advantage of the higher speeds in the not too distant future. |

ARRIS 800 Series Family |
said by bgoodbody:Be sure the modem is on the list AND DOCSIS 3.0 capable AND IPv6 capable. Yes, but I believe, just about all of the devices now on the list are DOCSIS 3.0 capable, except for three ARRIS 600 series eMTAs. said by bgoodbody:The Arris TG822 does both Telephone, and wired internet (4 ports) no wireless. Not sure if your mean a DG860A modem/router (but that doesn't have telephone), as my TM822G eMTA has only one WAN port on it. See the picture above of the current ARRIS 800 Series family of modems/router/eMTA/gateway devices. BTW - The DG860A isn't on Comcast's approved list right now » mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/said by bgoodbody:The Comcast network has been constantly upgraded and 8x4 may not be enough to take advantage of the higher speeds in the not too distant future. An 8x4 modem should be good for up to the Extreme 150 tier and maybe even the Extreme 250 tier (currently only available in a few Google Fiber markets). But anything above that will definitely require a 16xN or better device. |
