Wind Mobiles new websiteFirst we had animated gif's, then we had flash intros on commercial websites, then we had hideous web 2.0 designs and now comes parallax scrolling on commercial websites. They all have one thing in common and that's to confuse the consumer and waste our time.
Its kinda weird that all those years scrolling was considered bad and content was king now seems a new generation of ADD kids at dev jobs are going backwards. |

I believe this website is right up your alley: » www2.warnerbros.com/spac ··· /jam.htmYou can go live in the 90s and scream at those damned kids to get off your lawn. |

I think those are pretty, and most importantly they use the whole browser window and I don't have to squint or zoom on a website designed for 800x600.
These parallax scrolling websites aren't perfect but they are certainly preferable to nests of buried links and content. |

There is not content on the the front page except for big monster pics of a phone and hip to themselves people and some large H1 heading with a few words. They could have put all the info they need on one screen height. 800x600 hasn't been used for 10 years. |

My finger hurts trying to scroll through the 10 miles of nonsense trying to determine what the hell is this website until it finally comes clear at the end that it's an ad site for bottled water!
Most will give up. Wind's is at least short enough that you find what you need fairly promptly. |

Riiiiight instead of wanting to have good e-commerce experience on a commercial website I should just shut the fuck up, close my browser and let the hipsters loose online. Best part of the Wind Mobile website is "where's waldo I mean contact info?" . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . oh its down here in this tiny text |

It's actually pretty well designed, so your ranting is pretty useless. |

Actually, MY problem with the new WIND front page (now that I just went and looked) is not all of the fancy code which it may have required to build that page, while keeping programmers employed.
Instead, it is that some years ago now, monitors got WIDER (marketing-speak), or LESS TALL (John Q. Public-speak), so how in blazes can it possibly be a good idea from a design (or any other) perspective, to make even taller web pages ?! |

A lot of people do their browsing on tablets now, or even smartphones. You'll note that not only does the new Wind site support all classes of devices gracefully, it even scales images and font sizes as you shrink the browser.
The front page is not informational anyhow. Want the list of their plans? The link for that is right at the top, and that page doesn't really scroll. |

That is a battle you will never win. We could gang up on him. But seriously though.... Want to see a REALLY stupid brand new web page design from someone who wants to sell us something ? » www.yourindependentgroce ··· ent.htmlYou may have to feed it a city or a postal code, but once you get the flyer to display, no explanation will be necessary, if y'all read my LAST post. |

IG's New Flyer Website » www.yourindependentgroce ··· ent.htmlOK, the AV tab serves its purpose, but doesn't undo the ineptitude of the regular view. WHY are all of the controls at the top and bottom (instead of at the sides), and SOME CONTROLS EVEN COVER PART OF THE FLYER PAGE ?! What were they THINKING ? Oh, I see. They WEREN'T. |
|
|
Was probably the management telling the dev company how to do their job. |

Yep, Yep, Yep.... [said by 'Big Al' from 'Happy Days'] What's more, the previous version of the site was more ergonomically friendly, with MUCH less scrolling needed to read the flyer. Just centre it once, and flip the pages, IIRC. |

Re: Wind Mobiles new websiteTry finding the contact information for telus, talk about wanting to kill yourself. And of course, it only gets more fun when the 800 number they give you doesn't work outside of specific provinces. |
