Visit the Wrong Website the FBI Could End Up in Your Computer

quote:
Security experts call it a “drive-by download”: a hacker infiltrates a high-traffic website and then subverts it to deliver malware to every single visitor. It’s one of the most powerful tools in the black hat arsenal, capable of delivering thousands of fresh victims into a hackers’ clutches within minutes.

Now the technique is being adopted by a different kind of a hacker—the kind with a badge. For the last two years, the FBI has been quietly experimenting with drive-by hacks as a solution to one of law enforcement’s knottiest Internet problems: how to identify and prosecute users of criminal websites hiding behind the powerful Tor anonymity system.

I don't that ill ever be convinced of a ero interaction drive by download and install. Ive went to hundreds of links that supposedly had such things on fully un patched xp machines in the past and in every case a download started at best.I always had to do further clicking to let it install. Im sure by now every one here knows i always use a admin account. So doing every thing wrong and still no installed junk ware with out some form of interaction on my part.

Now on to the other issue if what the fbi etc is doing is basically hacking in to these illegal disgusting sites and letting users of these sites nail them self to the wall i see zero privacy issues here. If a person is nasty and stupid and get nailed great. They need to be. Let em nail them self to the wall.

Hell i used a similar trap to capture all my brothers adult porn keyword searching. I used a keylogger and trojan virus sent to his email from his email to gather keywords and used smooth wall to black list said keywords. All i did was log in to his email and send him a file. He opened it and infected him self at that point the rest was easy and pretty dang funny to boot. Watching him try for days to open porn.jpg.exe thinking was something wrong with his comp preventing him from viewing the pic lol.

We had a big policy shift after 9/11 and haven't worked out the kinks.

Anyone remember the anthrax attacks? It took us a long time to find the right guy. This should have been low hanging fruit. Can you say Fort Detrick?

Anyone remember where we put the junior Senators? (the basement as I may or may not recall well)
