Yes, what you saw was what was being transmitted...
Interestingly enough, that signal could be recorded and played back identically....
At home, we recorded the OTA ATSC Stream and thought the hard drive was dying, until we saw the commercial that was pristine... That meant the checksums in the HD feed were intact (Prior to MPEG Conversion). Once we realized that, we just sat back and chuckled and watched to see what would happen next!
I'll bet there were some exciting times at FLD during that!!!!

Compression scheme obviously fell apart somewhere in between feed point (switcher), and reception at FLD.
