Just had to reboot the VMS again for missing guide data! If this update doesn't come on the 11th i might flip my lid. Even the reboots which on previous versions took a minute at most now take 2-3. |

Surprisingly, I have not had to reboot my boxes for 1 week. Yes 1 week! lol. Usually it is once every 2 days. But since my last reboot. I refuse to reboot the boxes just for missing Guide Info. If I need to reboot, then the Guide Info comes back. A win win , I guess. |

Another thing.
My IPC's HDMI port stopped functioning the other day. The box seemed fine with the Clock functioning etc. Just a No Signal on the TV. I tried everything, until I dug around my Basement for old Component Cables, and hooked them up. That worked.
I honestly can say that I have not used Component Cables since my last Standard Def TV I had. Over a Decade ago. Since then, I have used HDMI.
The biggest difference is staggering. HDMI is the way to go, IMO.
Needless to say, a new IPC box will be sent. |

Careful, you might jinx it. At least we only have to hold on for a few more days hopefully. |

said by eival:thats a known bug, mostly for non-HDMI output (or so says others, i refuse to use HDMI for TV browsing so ill stick with dealing with the slight annoyance than adding 2 second delays to response times for marginally sharper picture)
not only that but anything higher than 480p crushes the black levels (another bug cause i had calibrated my TV input slot to the STB's which were set to 720p and closely mimics the xbox 360 which was calibrated using the AVS709 mp4's)
i would set it to 480p and keep hitting the # button on the fios remote till the picture aspect ratio is touching the sides but super thin (default ratio) then use your TV settings to adjust it so the ratio fills your screen and looks correct and leave it there
the reason to do that instead of changing the VMS ratio is that the guide data and screen overlays wont actually crop so it'll be cut off, the way i described will have everything properly sized
also keep the guide data set to SD instead of HD, there's literally no difference (probably a bug since the STB's did actually go from a 4:3 guide to 16:9, its 16:9 no matter what on the VMS) its just additional bandwidth to load the guides when set to HD which results in even more delays Thanks for that. That is an AWFUL workaround, as the picture is not actually HD when connected to component this way When there is an HDMI AND Component connected, it works fine over component, but when there is only component, it shows 4:3... Does anyone know of a device which would "activate" the HDMI port, but not actual use it? Like a dummy HDMI or HDMI terminator? |

I had an interesting experience this weekend. I was trying to replicate some of the VMS issues that have been reported. My older son walked into the room and asked what I was doing. So, I asked him if he had any problems with the new Cable Boxes. His response was that he did not know we had new boxes and that everything seemed the same. So I asked my wife and other son and got pretty much the same response.
As much as we see these issues, for most FiOS customers, they are just glitches if they are noticed at all. It put some of this in perspective. But, Verizon still needs to fix the problems. |

A lot of the current issue are features not working properly. So they may not be immediately noticeable. Like the search bug, you'll only see if you are searching something to set up a recording. The skip bug only appears when something is still recording. Hopefully only another 2 days though. |

I can not wait for this New Firmware. Especially because the Guide info is messed up. Shows that are NEW, don't show up as such , still.
I pray that this Firmware fixes those kinds of Guide issues, and the rest of the Bugs on the long list.
Not to mention, they must re add the options and Features that they took out. Flexible Focus, Classic View, Export to Cloud etc.
Ha. Suvivorman is on.. but is How It's Made. |

Yeah, some of those things they removed you just have to shake your head and think what were they thinking?
Another issue i've noticed, the guide data doesn't load for every day. Like sometimes the very last day you can go forward won't load. Right now i can advance to the 21st but the data is stuck ending at 1am. Sometimes two days pass before the data for that day and the next will load. That happened a few days ago with the 18th and 19th. This wasn't happening on the previous firmware. |

Indeed. The Guide Data was normal in the last Build. The other day, I had only Series Recordings for the next week. I knew that was wrong. I moved the Guide forward 6 days. It said LOADING for about 3 minutes. I thought my VMS locked up again, because IO went out in the Guide. Then the Guide repopulated, but only for 9 days out. I want to get my 12-13 days back again, with Guide refresh lol |

I hope they get it to where it was on the older boxes. On those the very last day that loads it would have data by around 3-4 am. Now when it does work it doesn't seem to load that last days data until late morning. I'm not sure why that is exactly. First they just need to fix where that last day doesn't load sometimes |

Also, my replacement IPC should arrive on Wednesday. Hopefully, after it is set up, it will get the new Firmware. If it does get pushed out that night from Wednesday into Thursday morning. |

I can't believe this. My new Client Box came, and set up was fine.
However I still can not set the STB to what I want it to be called. I had to again, customize it.
I just don't get that a STB that I sent back nearly a month ago, I can not name my current one the same thing?
Is this a BUG? or just a snafu?
I remember literally 2 days before I received my Quantum boxes, I renamed my 7100 and 7232 different names. Then when I imported my data, I could rename my DVR the same name I had before. NO problems.
Does anyone know what is going on with this? |

Does anyone know if the Parental Controls Bug will be fixed? That is another big one for me.
I just don't want to out to have to put it in my new replacement box, if it will be fixed in the next Firmware. |

NO problems. WebCobbler, as far as I know you can not name the new box the same as the old one. When I got my two VMS and imported the data, but had to use a different name. I got around that by first renaming the original box to a different name, rebooting the box, then was able to rename it to the original name. It worked then, who knows, maybe something changed since then, so that may not work in all cases now! Ugh. johnf2 |

Yes, I did rename it beforehand. I have to deal wit that later.
Now I have a problem with my new box. It is not recognizing my VMS. it often now changes to the FiOS app channels, then back to normal use again.
I did not have this problem with my previous boxes I had to return. WTF. Can't I catch a damn break.
I can't name it the same thing as I had with my first box, or anything. That I sent back a month ago. This should not happen.
Plus the Client Box can't see the VMS all of a sudden.
Are they having Server problems?
I have not changed anything on my end. Why would I. So it has to ben them. |

If you still have the previous IPC, can you put that back in the meantime, will it initialize? I don't know, I hope we get the firmware on Thursday. I just don't know whether that's a firmware problem. But that is your third IPC so far-right? johnf2 |

4th in 1 month
The one this one is replacing works fine, except that the HDMI port does not work anymore. That is why another one was sent, and I hooked that one up this morning. |

1080i resolution not saving when VMS shuts off, i am using the provided hdmi cables too.
I prefer to have the VMS set to 1080i, but everytime I set it to 1080i, I shut the box and tv off, and turn it back on, for some reason the box doesnt remember that I set it to 1080i and sets the resolution to 1080p according to display info on my Sony tv. Even though in the settings it still shows its set at 1080i in the menu option. When I change it to 1080p the screen doesnt do its normal black screen changeover to that resolution, cause its already in 1080p. This is a problem as my previous 7232 didnt do this at all. I set it to 1080i and it stays at 1080i.
I also have my vms hdmi plugged into the back of my sony home theater system and then thats plugged into the tv using 2 vz supplied hdmi cables. My old setup worked just fine with the 7232, all that changed was the stb and power cord during the swap, so the box or firmware has to be it.
Please help! I have tried everything and nothing seems to keep it at 1080i. Can anyone else replicate this issue? |

I've never seen one pushed in primetime. Its always in the early morning of a Wednesday or Thursday. If it hasn't been delayed or anything i'd expect it to come 2-3 am tomorrow morning. |

Looks like my VMS is currently downloading the update. Brooklyn, NY. I'm seeing an icon flashing on the front that looks like throughput arrows. Never seen that before. |

I always turn my boxes off when I am not using them. Also if frees up that Tuner for recordings.
Anyway, I guess I will find out when I turn them back on in the morning. |
