But wait!

So it's OK for local governments to spend hundreds of millions on new stadiums, along with tax breaks for these teams, to benefit only the team owners and fans, yet other projects, such as public transit and muni broadband, are somehow socialist?

Tell the NFL, MLB, NBA, and all the rest to stuff it. If they want new facilities, they can build them themselves. Furthermore, they can feel free to leave if they think they'll do better somewhere else. The same goes for any other businesses coming along demanding corporate welfare. Once those tax abatements run out, they usually leave anyway. Pass a federal law forbidding local or state governments from offering any kinds of tax incentives to lure companies and immediately ending any previously-granted incentives going forward. Don't allow officials to give these companies, sports-related or otherwise, special treatment. If we have to pay taxes, so should they.

Yes muni broadband is. Sports keep you fit, but I agree, Sport stadiums shouldn't be built on tax money and neither should muni broadband. Public Transit, yes, the states and feds give money each month to operate those systems, NOT Muni nor sports.

I wholeheartedly agree. These team owners are millionaires and billionaires. Let them pay for their own damn stadiums.

Actually, it is - in fact, its a textbook case. Period.

I don't understand why, if you want municipal broadband, you'd be ashamed to stipulate that a state-owned enterprise is ... a state-owned enterprise.
