It is only a matter of time before bankruptcies start to occur. Why? 1. Soccer is the sport of the future in regards to kicking a leather ball on grass. 2. There are a lot of empty seats during most, but not all, games. 3. The cost of paying players has gotten out of hand. 4. The concussion issue will not go away. 5. If cord cutting becomes a real issue then revenue from ESPN will be reduced. See item 3.
Where I live the county and private owners are building more soccer fields. I have yet to see a new football field except at schools. On weekends the local Hispanics play soccer not football. I remember reading an article that said that soccer and baseball likely will survive 30 years from now as they are sports played throughout the Americas. The future is not bright for the NFL.
