Re: [Info] BGP and 512K routessaid by battleop:I always get what I want after an outage. Some times it's impossible to get a CEO to understand why you have to have a $30k line card that may sit in its box for years. Just tell em you need a 1mill/yr slush fund and you'll be able to prevent unexpected downtime or atleast minimize it whichever you feel is most possible. |

Figured I'd share this as well as it provides links to the actual datasheets for reference. Will be an interesting march to 1meg IPv4 / IPv6 routes. Regards |

Yeah, I saw that article and laughed at the irony of it's timing. I guess much of the industry has kind of been asleep on this issue. Well if they aren't awake now, they're dead. |

For all of IT's claims of "bleeding edge," it can be surprisingly conservative.
Case in point, BIOS and 3.5" floppies.
*sighs*

Regards Its the management that hold IT back Heck if given an unlimited budget then I'd build an "IT fun land" imagine dozens of 7613's with the best Sup's and 6513e's with the best Sup's and even higher end gear. all updated when cisco releases something. |

[meme]7613? Why not ASR9922?[/meme] I'd take an ASR over a bastardised switch any day. Then again, I'd probably take a few Juniper boxes instead. A couple of MX2020's should do it. |

Then again, I'd probably take a few Juniper boxes instead. A couple of MX2020's should do it. It was a limited list also toss in a few CRS3's basically if its current cisco and above the 2900 line then it'd be there then in the basement would be the same but juniper, you'd have to sign a waver before going down there though. also add in some HP DL980's and DL560's and some blade centers and some beast storage arrays. I don't think it'd be profitable. but it'd be crazy fun. then across the street have a bar that serves 200 proof just for Hellfire. |

If I had an unlimited budget, I'd employ people to do all that crap for me and go racing... |

Well I'd have all then and a racetrack that would be a duplicate of the Nürburgring and have the network gather telemetry and send multi-camera video to the servers for later review also add in an array of cameras along the track so you'd have a virtual camera moving at the same speed as any given car (oh and the array would all be highspeed cameras) oh and an addition to the track would be a tunnel (a really long one) so you could blast through it. and have even more fun. |
