[DSL] dsl slows down

Frontier is my only isp option, unfortunately. My dsl slows down very frequently until modem is rebooted. Peak speed is 1312 kbps down, slows down to 448 kbps down or slower until reset. Is there anything that can be done to help this? Thanks for any help.

you have a frontier router i found from info i am using a frontier router speed is stable but i can not do a lot with the router remember i am guessing because it has the same firmware version with i think frameburst enabled on the router here at my house

maybe the router will work better if the firewall is turned down because the firewall blocks ports true fact or maybe your using a older wireless encryption thing wep if that is the case change the encryption to wpa or wpa2 on the router here if frameburst is turned on it allows more speed you could turn it on it is on and a wired connection gets the extras speed in the first place but when you enable it then wireless gets the extra speed the wired connection gets it does allow a bit faster speed but might be less stable speed but who cares about stable speed when there is no need for udp most of the internet does not use udp and and if it is a wired connection thing not working well then you might need a new router but if you could fix it like open it up and fix it or you could reset the router to make it work better once a router like it got messed up and needed a reset

frontier you think might be your only option but you could go with satellite or a cellular network but it is more preferred to have dsl because it uses wires and wires are quicker and you can find more unlimited data stuff from isps that provide you internet though dsl but you can try to find anything other then dsl that is better then satellite because satellite is slower then cellular and if you are using cellular you have to find hotspot data and stuff

You have some type of trouble on your pair! When the transceiver negotiates a speed, it does so by trying to get the target noise margin set in the CO DSLAM. at 448, your margin should be >15.2! Power-cycle your modem and look at your transceiver stats again. Push the Refresh button every couple seconds - I bet you will see the margin fluctuating (more than +-0.3dB could be a problem). If you do find a large fluctuation, try plugging directly into your Network Interface. Still fluctuating? Yes>call Frontier, No>look for a missing filter or noisy phone, fax, security system, sat box, etc. If your technician says the line is OK, ask him/her to run a stress test to look for a high resistance joint. If you find that the problem happens under certain weather conditions, let him/her know. If all else fails, ask the tech to change the pair! If you find the trouble is inside and you can't find it, ask the tech to install a dedicated jack and filter the rest of the house outside (or, if you don't have POTS, just disconnect the extra inside wires).
