The new MLB Commissioner is nothing but a puppet of the owners. Since that is true, expect baseball to continue its slide behind Football as America's favorite sport.

They should have found an independent outside commissioner and not an insider who is part of the existing league management. Manfred is currently MLB COO.

Are you surprised? the Commissioner works for the Owners. The owners pay his salary, so damn right they're gonna pick a guy that is onboard with them, in terms of the way they want the business of baseball to run.

The owners had an opportunity to make improvements to MLB's reputation and reinvigorate the sport by choosing a dynamic and forward looking outside Commissioner. Instead the billionaire owners stuck to the status quo and took the safe route. Changes to online video and the ever increasing sports pkg costs on cable can erode their customer base as costs continue to escalate. They will be losing those who care about baseball and begin to see a drop in the number of fans.
