[Qwest] Centurylink 60Mbps speeds available now?!

60Mbps speed
I logged into my CL online account today to see that 60Mbps is now available to me.

Here are the details:
-$96.99/month
-It requires a new modem and a $59.99 visit from an install tech
-30Mbps upload (if you qualify)
-The same 250GB monthly cap still applies (at least for now)

I am not sure if there are any promotions that reduces the price. My 1 year promo is almost up, so I will call the customer loyalty department later and find out if I can get it cheaper by signing another year contract.

Nice catch. I wanted to see if my account showed bonded tiers as well, but their useless website is just redirecting me to »sorry.centurylink.com (who the hell uses a subdomain for an error page?) when I try to log in or enter my address as a new customer.

It's probably Bonded VDSL2+ and that would require a new modem and it would mean you are less than 1000 wire feet from the fiber fed dslam.

Unless it is something else other than VDSL2+.

The model number of the modem will tell you what it is.

Yep, that's what I assumed. If this is a full rollout of bonded tiers to residential accounts, 12/2, 20/2, 20/5 PB, 40/5 PB, 40/20 PB, 60/30, 80/40, 100/12 and possibly 100/40 should be available depending on loop length. 100/40 is questionable; it has been mentioned by others but the highest I've seen on the business site are 80/40 and 100/12.

Talking on chat with a CSR. She initially said bonded was only available for business, and after she checked loop qual, I qualify for 20/2. There's still the question of DSLAM capacity, but if she can put the order through I may as well try (maybe I'll get lucky).

If this is truly residential bonded, it's the first I've seen it mentioned up here.

I checked my house and still only 12 meg on the fiber fed VDSL2+ (I'm almost 6K wirefeet from the node) and my daughter is 12 meg ADSL max, she's fed directly out of the CO.

I was finally able to check loop qual myself and I'm not seeing it, but the chat CSR did say 20/2 was available for me. She wasn't able to order it, presumably due to the lack of ports.

Try customer service (not support) chat at »internethelp.centurylink ··· t-q.html and just ask them to see what's available. They don't seem to be aware specifically of this likely bonded rollout, but their loop qual tool seems to be showing it.

That said, CSRs have been misinformed in the past and their website has shown inaccurate information in the past, so until there's a press release or something, who knows.

Mine used to say 40 Mbps was available, then today I see the 60 Mbps is available.

I see this by logging into the residential site with my small business id. Their website is just awful.

I have a smb line, bonded to 20/2. CSR says I can get 100 Mbps.

Looking at the DSL1 stats... I'm very doubtful, what are they going to do bond 4+ lines?
I would pay for the bump up 40 Mbps, but I doubt its available and I don't want my line or account messed up.

60M/30M Confirmed for the Des Moines, IA area. The upgrade wizard on the website would not give me an option for 60M, but a quick chat with a CSR made it happen.

Doesn't VDSL top out at 100mbps over a single pair? I don't think this service necessarily has to be bonded. He could just be really close to the DSLAM, like in his front yard maybe?

In order to get 100Mbps via 12a, he would have to have A+ copper and practically have the DSLAM on top of his house

CenturyLink would not be foolish enough to sell it un-bonded. The 60/30 makes sense as with a 12a bonded pair it would be easily done where only 40/20 could have been done with a single pair.

Ha! Not that I need more bandwidth, but here in a populated northern MPLS suburb the max speed I can get is 7Mb/s. It used to say 12.

Now that's 21st century.

Apparently, I qualify for a 100Mbps business account. I was afraid to ask how much it would be, since the business 40/20 tier costs $180...

Those are about $500 on CoreConnect.
