Shaw Direct is a little better at $36, though I can't see if there are any other fees.

At one point Shaw Direct offered a special package for those people who lost their OTA channels when Canadian stations formally transitioned in 2011. It was 20-something dollars and provided basic network tv channels.

Shaw Direct is still offering their LTSS program for people who lost their OTA in the transition to digital provided you're in approved cities.

OTA is the only way many Canadians get the emergency broadcasting system. They can't shut it down. If they try there will be an appeal to Federal Court, with Charter arguments no doubt.

And they'll punt it over to the CRTC, like they always do.

And this was 5.5yrs ago.. still no challenge
