USG100 only 105Mbps throughput?Hi guys, I just upgraded DSL connection speed from 100 to 150 Mbps and noticed that my USG100 can only do up to 105 Mbps. Straight off the DSL cable I get 150 Mbps.
Any ideas as what I might check on the USG? It is running a s2s VPN and only the Firewall is enabled for the test. Firmware is 3.00(AQQ.4) / 1.08
Thanks for any help. |

You should try upgrading to 3.30 (AQQ.5) » ftp:// ftp.zyxel.com/ZYWALL_USG ··· firmwarebut I'm afraid you're hitting HW limitations of that box. |

What is the "CPU Usage" when it runs 105 Mbps? |

Up to 68% I am using the ookla speedtest.net for this testing. |

If hitting HW limitations, what is the next bigger box to upgrade to (keeping the 150Mbps DLS line in mind)? Would be the USG 110 or 300 be a better choice? |

I think, if you run the test with 68% CPU, at first "ookla speedtest.net" is limited. Use a clock and make with two PCs two ftp OpenSuse DVD downloads from two different sites. Your USG should run at 100%. Anyway if I estmate my USG 20 with 85 Mpbs (only firewall is listed 175 Mpbs) your USG 100 (only firewall is listed 225 Mpbs) should have a problem with 150 Mpbs.
My new USG60 (only firewall is listed 1000 Mpbs) runs 50 Mbps with 40%. It looks like 150 Mbps is the limit, but I can't test if there is a turbo inside and I wait for the next firmware. |

If your in the market for a purchase, avoid the older USGs (200, 300 etc). Its time to move to the newer 110, 210, 40, 60 crowd......... |

If I connect to the DSL directly, ookla speediest.net shows 150 Mbps. Connection through the USG100 shows 105 Mbps, so the ookla must be OK.
I was looking on the CPU utilization on the main page, it might have been shortly at 100% without me being able to see it. Is this the right place to look at this? |

If the USG110 is shown at 1600 Mbps Firewall throughput that should mean I can run through it 150 Mbps without problem at 20-30% CPU utilization. Sounds good... looking already for one.
PS: Would the new USG110 run S2S VPN with my older USG100 on the other side? |

Brano, is upgrading to 3.30 unproblematic? All the setup like VPN and rules are kept in place, no issues after the upgrade? Thanks again! |

Upgrade to 3.30 is smooth, but make config backup just in case. S2S VPN is no issue.
Look at the USG40 and USG60 models too. |

mmmh, so a 100/10 could be the limit of usg 60 but your test is with firewall only and no utm services?? file transfers between pc on the lan how fast are they? |

I test with firewall only, but the 4.10 has no place to really switch off the utm services. You must trust Zyxel. The PC are directly connected to the USG60. The speed 50/10 I watch with MRTG in 5 min intervals. |
