Re: [WIN7] windows update not running

I'm not using OpenDNS. I'm just using whatever DNS Time Warner uses for their modems.

I'll check and see if it's working.

Time Warner has been having DNS issues over the past week.

If other solutions fail, and you're determined to reinstall anyway, you could try testing Google DNS.

Even after the system restore to factory, I'm still getting the same error message. I'm going to remove Norton Internet Security and see if that is the problem before trying to change the dns servers.

Well it wasn't Norton so I'm giving Google dns a shot.

The ipv6 settings aren't working. Ipv4 changed easily. I'm still getting the same error message from Windows update.

Maybe the problem is with my modems dns settings?

Changing the modems dns to google dns did nothing.

Internet works just not windows update.

I wonder if opendns will work.

this is the other error I was getting.

It had me thinking that it was malware of some kind.

I still get it after a factory reset.

I called Time Warner. They told me to call microsoft. MS told me to run antivirus or pay a fee for support. I ran norton full system scanwhich came out clean and then the norton repair tool which checks for root kit problem ad it also returned clean.

So I'm at a loss as to what to do next. One would think that a clean install would've fixed the problem.
