[Embarq] SPF Soft Failure

Since last Thursday afternoon I've been seeing this whenever postfix sends an email to either myself as a log snip or reports spam to 'uce.gov'. AFAICT this does not affect the sending of these messages. This is Postfix 2.11.0 installed on a Ubuntu 14.04 LTS box.

Aug 30 10:09:37 localhost postfix/smtp[30967]: 9A30111C1376: to=, relay=smtp.embarqmail.com[205.219.233.11]:587, delay=576, delays=575/0.01/0.35/0.33, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 SPF validation soft failure)

The SPF record for the domain "embarqmail.com" only permits sending from:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
embarqmail.com.         60      IN      TXT     "v=spf1 a mx ip4:208.47.184.3 ip
4:208.47.184.5 ip4:208.47.184.7 ip4:205.219.233.9 ip4:208.47.184.9 ip4:205.219.2
33.7 include:centurylink.net ~all"

Are you mailing logs direct from your router? Your public IP address is not a permitted sender.

The good news is that CenturyLink has coded the SPF for a "softfail". Had they used. "-all", that would indicate a hard fail.

If you are sending through "smtp.embarqmail.com", then I am not sure why the softfail; unless they have incorrect information in their SPF record.

Not from my router, postfix is installed on my Linux box. As you can see everything is relayed through smtp.embarqmail.com

to=, relay=smtp.embarqmail.com[205.219.233.11]:587,
to=, relay=smtp.embarqmail.com[205.219.233.11]:587
