Need new media player recomendations

since I can't seem to find the old thread ( I could have sworn i posted one), here it is again..

what are your favorite media players these days? Cyber link is getting too bloated for it's own good with crap I don't even use. (just play the damn movie!) and Jet Audio is begining to be the same way. It would be nice to be able to eliminate the both of them for one single program.

any ideas?

thanks

I use Plex (client) on my Windows 8.1 Update 1 desktop, Roku, OUYA, iPad Air, iPhone 5, via a web browser (remotely) and soon an Amazon FireTV. I run the Plex Media Server on my Windows 8.1U1 desktop.

MPlayer.

I tend to get MPlayer from http://sourceforge.net/p/mplayerwin & use the
MPUI-hcb
GUI (only, not the MPlayer backend itself) front-end
MPUI-hcb
(GUI, latest, at this point).

On the off chance that that doesn't work, I'll try the clip in MPC-HC (Media Player Classic Home Cinema) or MPC-BE (Media Player Classic - BE ) or VLC ("Video Lan").

And if none of them will do it, the clip gets deleted as its not worth messing with.

(Oh, & there are times that a particular player will work, where another will not, but that is almost always because of particular settings set or not in the player.)
