Adobe yesterday said it would issue security updates next week for its PDF viewer, Reader, and for its PDF creator, Acrobat, to fix critical flaws in the software on Windows and Apple's OS X.
But it won't be updating Flash Player, its ultra-popular media playing program. If that holds through the end of the month -- if Adobe does not have to issue an "out-of-cycle," or emergency, patch -- it would be a first for 2014.
Let's see what is going to happen on Tuesday. |

We could probably depend on it despite what Gregg Keizer said. As we've been seeing - » Updated Flash players again! So sayeth Larry Seltzer: quote: It has also become popular for other companies, most prominently Adobe, to release security updates for their own products on that day.
that day being update TuesdayAs has Adobe been notorious for releases without service bulletins or advance notice. |

UPDATE: Upcoming Security Updates for Adobe Reader and Acrobat (APSB14-20)quote: UPDATE: The security update for Adobe Reader and Acrobat has been re-scheduled from September 9, 2014 to the week of September 15, 2014. This delay was necessary to address issues identified during routine regression testing.
So that's one thing less to do later today. |

Has anyone updated yet via the internal updater? I've given up and sourced from the downloads page.
Edit: The windows installer update to 11.0.9 doesn't work. It errors telling me the package/installed version is incorrect or a mismatch.
Be patient I guess. |

said by norwegian:Has anyone updated yet via the internal updater? The full 11.0.9 installer is on the FTP site. It is dated today (9/16/2014) at around 4am. There's a number of updaters (.msp files) there as well. Presumably Adobe has not yet switched the update script to point to the updaters as of yet, |

Well at least you're going into Spring where you are (getting warmer). Fall/Autumn here and cooling down. |

BTW after updating you might want to disable the AdobeARM (phone home--I mean update checker). On some OS'es it is a service while on others it's run on login. |

Got it via internal update: notes here - » helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/ ··· der.htmlAnd yes AdobeARM is put back in MSCONFIG for those that don't want it pinging Adobe when it shouldn't be. » www.systemlookup.com/Sta ··· exe.html (cited previously) |

FYI the internal update checker still isn't seeing the 11.0.9 update. Evidently Adobe is trying to reduce the load on their servers by letting IT and other professionals manually download and install the update before making it available to the great unwashed (via AdobeARM). |

Manual update via the GUI|Help|Check for Updates worked fine here.

Avoiding the obvious - why it's not working for you, have you got something crippled ?
Open Adobe Reader, from the Help Menu, select - Help | Check for updates. |

I tried the "check for updates" feature in a copy of 11.0.8 minutes before my post and got "no updates available". I manually installed the 11.0.9 update (.msp) so I can't try it again.
It was a standard installation with nothing disabled or otherwise crippled.
You don't say when got the update. Perhaps Adobe enabled it just after I posted. When did you do it? |

Half hour before hand. Maybe at that point your DNS hadn't updated?
I have found that the DNS servers used can affect times on the 'net. |

Not sure about DNS but many vendors "load balance servers"--that is one IP can hit different physical servers. If they're not all updated together you can encounter issues like this. I see this happen with one vendor I use and it is really annoying to see one user be able to download an update while another cannot (since the server they hit doesn't yet have it). |
