Do all network Blu-ray players have bad UI design?

I don't know if I've come to expect more from UI design and usability but every time I try a Blu-ray player out I feel like it was made as an open source project in the late 90's without any input from designers.

Is this just a limitation of that platform or are they just not trying hard enough?

It is a matter of opinion and personal taste. I have a Sony Blu-ray player from 2010 and I think its UI is fine for the job.

Indeed. Different things work for different people.

Personally I couldn't care less if the UI looks like it's stuck in the 90's, as long as it is functional, efficient, and intuitive.

I have found mine has a good UI... of course its a PS3 so its also designed to be a gaming system. But it does the job of both well.
