I don't have any ill-will for PG but I really want to see the Battletech IP come back in the gaming world... as such, I can't wait till someone that has an at least an ounce of experience with community management, marketing and financing to buy the IP from them and make some real battletech/MW games.
I mean, all I ever wanted was a damn MechWarrior 5.
Yeah, same...but they've got their clutches on it for the forseeable, and unless they unfuck this current situation for Transverse, it's their only sickly cash cow.
Man, things are definitely not looking good for Piranha Games. Yesterday, the company revealed its latest title; a sci-fi flight-based MMORPG that looks way too similar to Star Citizen. And as it was to be expected, the fanbase backlash was huge. In fact, it was so huge that the launch of Transverses crowd-funding campaign is now considered a complete failure.
Piranha Games has managed to raise 6,260$ which equals to 0$ of Transverses first goal (which is 1$ million). Currently there are only 71 backers, and its pretty unclear whether this new title will meets its initial goal.
After 10 days, SC was at 2M or so. They haven't cleared 10K yet.
They lowered the minimum amount to 500K (from 1M) to get the game made but I don't expect these guys will ever see more than 100K in the best of scenarios, let alone 1M.
Nice to see the gaming community has a spine and a working memory.
I'm not that surprised about it... as I followed MWO from the very beginning. The first alpha version of the game was a horrible pay fest and despite MW being my second most played games ever, I quit and hated them for it. Came back at the end of the beta, hearing lots of promises and seeing that they actually started to improve the game...
But the second people became hopeful and started to talk positive about it again, they went right back to turning it into another pay fest. And to add insult to the injury, they jump on the transverse pay fest before even bothering to complete their 'soon' promises from several years ago.
There's no way they can salvage anything anymore... they just need to fold and sell the IP already.

I remember trying it in September 2012 and found it to be buggy as hell and completely Pay-to-Win. Came back a year later and it was tolerable, but the design decisions and emphasizing new paid content (mechs) over actual development is what killed it for me.
