Re: [IMG] New Quantum Build : 2.18.2 (9/11/14)Hey, us older people take offense of you making fun of Metamucil. Yeah, the slowness of the boxes gets annoying. |

I only had to reboot it once because it lost connectivity with my router, but considering I've had this box since March or April, that's not bad. There HAS to be some reason why some folks are seeing this and others aren't. You probably got the "marketing prototype", used to sell VZ on the product! Extra ROM 'n RAM, BIGGER BUFFERS! LOL. |

Totally agree, have to reboot both my VMS1100 every week or the guides slow down, navigating the guide and setting up new series is slow, DVR playbacks go black for 15 or so seconds. Lets hope we get the next update this month, not ... !!! johnf2 |

My VMS just locked up while I was watching a DVR show and putting in a HD channel number. It went to 4 digits, then I had no Guide. Then my screen froze, and I had to manually reboot.
I have not had this happen on the past couple of weeks. This particular issue. I have rebooted my box once a week to prevent this, though. A sort of preventative maintenance, so to speak.
Everything was going well.
I do hope that a fix will be coming before next year, as the rumor has it. The sooner the better. |

They must've read my post.
All my Quantum boxes rebooted at Midnight. Thought maybe it was more snow - but nope - the massive bright LED reset once again on our bedroom box and lit up the room like a flare.
Some day..... |

The LED brightness issue is 'supposed' to be fixed in the next firmware...... |

Thanks Dave! I know they snagged some diagnostics info from my box a few months back. |

My Quantum boxes also rebooted around midnight. |

All Quantum boxes spontaneously rebooted here in Pittsburgh VHO 11 last night around the same time. I can't see anything changed. |

Mine rebooted the other night for no apparent reason. |
|
|
My VMS and IPC did not reboot spontaneously last night.
I figure that to my VMS literally locking up on my during that day, and I had to manually reboot. As well, at that time, I rebooted my IPC.
Maybe that is why my boxes did not reboot like yours and others the other night.
Just my thoughts. |

I've all of a sudden been running into an issue with my vms. I dont watch my ipc enough to tell if its on there as well, but the last few days (even after a reboot) I've noticed that if I'm watching something that was recorded if I try to fast fwd, skip or do anything at a point I'd say after 1/4 of the show I cant do anything. I have to wait a minute or 2 before it lets me do anything. Box responds as the light on the vms so it's getting the ir command, but does nothing. Other times it works fine. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the new Greenwave Gateway because after I got it that's when I started seeing the issue. |

Reoccurring issue for me:
I can once again, no longer go 13 days in the Guide. So, as of Today the 16th, I can go out to Friday the 28th. Normally, I can go out to Saturday the 29th. Or 13 days out, as I think of it.
For the past week or two, it has been working fine. Now this issue again.
When I go out to Saturday, I get the Please Wait sign. Nothing happens, even after several minutes.
However, a couple days ago, I got the same Please Wait, and nothing happened. But, The guide did populate after I exited. No dice, this time.
I hope this gets fixed in the next Guide update. |

said by webcobbler:o longer go 13 days in the Guide. Same here, webcobbler, only 12 days in guide now even though the system menu shows 14 days! BTY, I am not even going to try to reboot anymore, because now when I do a power off reboot of one VMS, both VMS's stop talking to each other, and when the VMS comes back up it won't connect to the network and the other VMS, so I have to both reboot the router and shut down the other VMS to get it to connect and talk to each other! [new Ver. I router and new ONT installed a couple of months ago]. I sure hope we get the update this month. johnf2 |

john,
Wouldn't your VMS then get extremely laggy without a reboot?
That is a sucky situation for you.
My VMS seems to slow down far faster now. More reboots for me, as well as my IPC box.
I also truly hope that we get a new update this month. The rumor of January is not cool, if true. IMO |

These Quantum Boxes are the laggiest hardware I have ever used. Constantly have to hard reset just to be able to change channels and watch the DVR. I don't think this can be fixed with software or firmware updates. Just really bad.... |

January!!! Now we have to wait until January and hope the problem with Quantum and responsiveness to remote commands is fixed!!! What if it's not fixed in January? Do we wait another few months. And a few months after that.
I'm having to re-boot about twice a week and it's not a quick and easy process. First, I have to disconnect power to the Server, wait awhile, then reconnect and see if it boots up properly. It's been taking at least two power disconnects and sometimes three to get the server to re-boot properly. Then I have to go through exactly the same process on the Client which also requires at least two disconnects. A total waste of time.
I like FiOS a lot and have had it since 2008. I even like the new features Quantum offers. However, enoughs enough. Verizon needs to fix this now (or, as a minimum, acknowledge the problem and give us a timeframe for resolving it). |

Why are you doing all that? There's a reboot stb option in the support tools in the menu that is a lot quicker. |

True, wouldn't it make more sense to reboot before it gets that bad though. With mine the menus don't really slow down My biggest issue is the lag when playing a recording. Eventually that gets so bad it actually reboots itself. |

January isn't too far off to wait.... but.... what is supposedly bundled in the update? Removing lag? Adding back the 22 MIA FiOS widgets (including Pandora)? Or is it just a software update with no real significant change for the consumer (not like that hasn't happened before)? Inquiring minds want to know... |

Late last night, my VMS DVR Black screen went from about 3 seconds, to 8-12. This has been the first time that overnight, things have changed dramatically.
I did not reboot in a week, so I thought things were OK.
Usually, the lag issue gradually gets worse. Not, a jump from relatively fine to mayhem overnight.
Thus, I needed to reboot at about 2AM. An inopportune time, because the Guide Data does not populate and just shows No Data , (as if one did this in the late afternoon,) for example.
I can not wait long enough for the next STB update. |

Hopefully among the 1.9.7 updates are the UI look and the auto tune to HD. |

Random Q-
Does anyone feel the guide looks sharper / richer on the IP boxes than on the DVR?
Colors on the DVR box seem so faded and dull to me compared to the IP's. |

Timothy28 regarding your post on 11/22 on Reboot Option
I am just now responding to your post of 11/22 because I wanted to try the Reboot Option for several weeks. I was familiar with that option before your post, but it had not consistently worked for me previously.
After your post, I tried it and it worked for a couple of weeks. However, it didn't work yesterday. It hung up after the reboot and indicated there was a problem with my coax connection. I knew this wasn't true since Verizon had been out about a month ago and checked and/or replaced all of my connections and replaced my ONT in order to solve a bad pixelation problem.
Finally, I had to unplug the server (more than once) to get the system back up to normal responsiveness. I guess the coax problem repaired itself.
I just hope Verizon's January software update fixes this issue. It sure would be nice to hear some "official" word that the problem is being addressed. |

said by Tomel:[Rebooting the VMS] it hung up after the reboot and indicated there was a problem with my coax connection. . Tomel, I was likewise rebooting my 2 VMS every week to being back its responsiveness. About 2-3 weeks ago when I rebooted one of my VMS, it would not find the network connection. Rebooting the router and ONT did not work. (MY ONT was replaced by VZ about three months ago after a bad power cut in our neighborhood and all coax/signal levels and the router was checked as good by the tech at that time) So, as best as I can determine, the connect failure had something to do with the other VMS was on and either in playback mode or the guide was reloading at the same time I tried the reboot. When I turned the second VMS off, but did not unplug it, no connection problems or errors doing the reboot of the other VMS. This scenario may also apply if IPCs are on or in use when booting the VMS. (I do not have IPC's) Why they haven't got some reports of this is unknown. I reported situation to VZ. I will keep rebooting about once a week until we get the January update. Hope this helps! johnf2 |
