I am in west Windsor, and did not get the "critical update" message until I did my weekly reboot friday...
Maybe coincident, who knows
No new IMG |

Maybe the critical update is some kind of prerequisite update that has to be installed before the new IMG can be updated. |
|
|
Certainly a possibility. |

When I installed Quantum on Tuesday it booted after setup as you would expect and then I got the same message about a critical update. Which I okayed and then it rebooted again after a download. I was hoping it was the new firmwear but it wasn't. I think you may be right, some kind of prerequisite update. |

On the bright side i think we can safely say the update is actually coming this time. I doubt they'd be pushing this critical update prior if whatever delayed it wasn't corrected. |

Tonight I had another weird experience with the REC Bug.
This time it really affected my IPC box.
So: I was recording 2 programs at once from 9-10pm. VMS was fine. IPC did not show this. I turned it off than on. That fixed it.
Then, later on in the night I manually recorded something. My VMS shows that I was recording this show. My IPC, no.
I thought that was really strange, so I just rebooted the IPC.
I hope that fixes this thing. It is the worse that I have seen it. Usually all I had to do was turn the box on and off, or vise versa.
Just thought I would share. Also, I hope this REC bug is fixed in the next update. For both VMS and IPC boxes. |
|
|
I must be in the minority that my rec light works as it is supposed to. |
|
|
Well, at least I know I am not the only one with this problem, because it is a reported Bug. lol |
|
|
Haha yeah, it might be present on my IPC boxes but i rarely touch those. |

Out of curiosity, i wonder if this critical update they're rolling out prior to the new IMG in the next few days is possibly the memory leak fix. I mean it could be possible they actually listened and are fixing that first before they give us the new UI or am i giving Verizon too much credit here? |

Dang- Who knows? Maybe this is just a message about another under-the-hood update like we got before Christmas - based on the UI # changes some folks are seeing. |
|
SeattleMatt |
Just got back home.
UI is now 2.18.1 (323.10) as was mentioned. Nothing else different as of right now.
A pop up box came up with a picture of the new colored IMG on it - and said it was "Coming Soon" - and took me right to the Messages.
Closer! |
|
|
That critical update must be some kind of prerequisite then to the update coming this week for VHO8 with the new color IMG. |

This afternoon I was using the VMS and completely lost the ability to change channels. I tried entering the channel number and also tried tuning from the guide and the channel would not change. Is this a known bug? |
|
|
That would be one i've never seen or heard of as of yet. |

The tech who installed my setup yesterday said the rumor is 2/7. |

I wouldn't say never. Several got the "critical update" yesterday a Saturday. |

I received the critical update on Sunday. New menu looks better I guess. I don't get hung up on the menus. Doesn't add anything to my viewing experience. |

New IMG as of this morning in VH08. So far I really don't like the look.

New guide |
Ok, the new guide downloaded here in VHO8 right on time at 3:00am. Release: APR-1.0 Build Number: 03.24.2 UI Version: 03.24.2 Middleware Version: 03.24 Platform ID: VS1100 Firmware Version: KA12.50.07.07.Alder. 439790 Guide Data Days Available: 7 Note: Check your Audio Settings, it defaults to Mono and your Guide Options are All Channel by default, you may need to change then to other settings. It looks really dull grey/black, font size is still the same, this of course is a work in progress. As a note, Free Memory upon start-up was 1162, of course I haven't walked the guide out to 12 days yet. Edit: I forced the guide out to 13 days, my Free Memory is now 872 and falling. Nothing new there! NOTE: I moved this post over to NEW VMS IMG BUILD - 3.42.2 (1/26/15) thread --respond there! johnf2 |
