Internet Explorer 12 UI overhaul is a blend of Chrome and Firefox, adds ext.

Nice..."Microsoft is always looking for ways to improve its browser and with growing pressure from Google Chrome and Firefox, there is no time to waste when it comes to pushing out new features. And to no surprise, Microsoft has big plans for its next major update to Internet Explorer, which will arrive with Windows Threshold." ....[ »www.neowin.net/news/inte ··· -support ]

IE 12 does look interesting and am looking forward to kicking the tires when a Beta becomes available.

Why is this post in the security thread? Article makes no mention of security enhancements, in fact the article is rather lacking in any real substance.

What does security have to do with UI changes to IE (specifically in the linked article)¿ I'm not trying to rain on your IE12 parade, just stating the obvious...

Maybe it should be over in - »Microsoft Chubbzie See Profile

Browser security enhancements | improvements are a security topic as far as I see it.
IE 12 is coming with Windows 9 and will probably be available to other OS users when that happens.

Perhaps siljaline See Profile, its no big deal just a bit off topic in my book. A comment regarding IE12 possibly having better extension support just does not directly correlate to security, particularly given the lack of any real substance in the article.

Will it be finally separated from the OS as all other browsers are?
Then it may get my attention...

Probably after Win 9 gets closer to a preview release. There's no way of knowing now but my best bet is MS will release IE 12 for other OS as soon as it can.

They need to distance themselves from the Name IE-Internet Explorer. The name alone will hinder adoption, seriously. They should call it "Microsoft Voyager" Let the great voyage begin!

More will flesh out on IE12 when there's more to write about it

I've pinged Mary Jo Foley and asked if we'll see a preview on non Win 9 OS anytime soon.

I don't think that is what OZO See Profile meant. He means, I think, is the USA finally going to be treated like Europeans where IE is NOT an integral part of the OS that cannot be uninstalled. I would be interested if IE 12 will be a STAND ALONE browser...otherwise, ho, hum...nothing can be new really until Microsoft uncouples it from the OS. THAT would be great news for the USA where our legal and congressional system were too scared of Microsoft to enforce the ruling against Microsoft. It took braver souls in Europe to do it.
